Putin continues his attacks on civilians, punishing the families of soldiers akin to what the allies did during the last days of WW2 in Germany. www.bbc.com/news/live/world-63240193

The Ukraine is now a testing ground for anti missiles systems. Invaluable information for the Pentagon. It will be interesting to watch if Germany's latest and greatest system can protect an entire city as claimed by the manufacturer Diem and if not, how vulnerable it is to destruction by Russian missiles that get through. Only one such system has been delivered so far, 3 more are being manufactured to go to Ukraine shortly. www.dw.com/en/what-is-germanys-iris-t-air-defense-system/a-63414859Camouflage showing in the image in above article is for dessert warfare, apparently an Arab country has originally ordered some. If they got any already is not clear.

Well, seems to me I'm well on my way to get on the wrong side of 'The Man' I don't see anything that would put you in danger of being banned. I see a lot of being gullible and believing propaganda. Myself I believe it was wrong for Russia to invade, however being a libertarian I dont think its our fight and we shouldn't be involved. Ukraine isn't a member of the EU and isn't a member of NATO. I think the US has done a lot to instigate the situation and is willing to fight Russia right down to the last Ukrainian for the sole reason of weakening Russia. Much like it did in Afghanistan by funding the Mujahideen. US government officials have been caught in so many lies over the last 30 years that if they said the sky was blue I would have to walk outside first to verify before I believed it. The News media is in the governments back pocket and just parrots what they are told with no investigation. I think poking the bear, when the bear has the biggest nuclear arsenal the world is just plain idiotic. Also Ukraine and Russia had a deal negotiated to settle the dispute early on and the US and Great Britten shot it down. so for those and many other reasons I am taking the contrarian view. Time will tell who is the victor in the long run and all the propaganda on both sides will be meaningless.

Well SB, you present strong views of a political party, I am an independent and have no party affiliation. I do have a strong dislike however for 'Soviets' like Putin and his followers. Our disagreements should make this forum more interesting.

Khersón is the city just north of the Crimea the Russians had occupied since the beginning of the war and is mainly occupied by Russian nationals. Khersón is the capital of one of the 4 provinces by the same name Putin claimed to be part of Russia.

scumbuster said: scumbuster I agree with you to a point. I view this as the modern day Vietnam. But we are allowing Ukraine to fight the war for us. For the longest time there was this great fear of the 'Soviet-style' Russian Army. Back during my US Navy time when it was still the USSR, I took a course on Warsaw Pact Navies. It was at that time that their doctrine, weapons and training quenched some of those fears. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't even think about taking on even 5 of their Spetsnaz commandos with a company of men, but Ukraine has shown that they are not insurmountable. What the US is doing is giving some older technology weapons and letting them use it. Its like the neighborhood snowball battle. The US is making the snowballs and Ukraine is throwing them. When it is all over we can say, "We had nothing to do with it!" vikingo has very good reason to weary of the Russian offensive though. He grew up when the threat of the 'Big Red Machine' was a real threat and not very far from the door!

vikingo has very good reason to weary of the Russian offensive though. He grew up when the threat of the 'Big Red Machine' was a real threat and not very far from the door! The Red Army came closer than that, wildstubby, they were in our house looking for stuff to steal, anything of value, slicing open the goose down bedding to look for something hidden and looking for girls and women to rape. My little cousin Rita was 5 so she was spared. They wouldn't touch any girl under 8, it seems those were their orders. Apparently an idea they got from the Muslims who believe a girl is a woman the moment she reached puberty.
The women were hiding in the barn under the hay and the Russians would stab their bayonets into the hay looking for them. All the women in our family were lucky though, unlike most women in the cities who had no place to hide.
I got to watch an execution of 3 Russian soldiers at the age of 6, apparently they didn't follow orders. The soldiers weren't disciplined at all. When they marched in my hometown an officer on horseback rode alongside and watched them, if he caught anyone talking or being sloppy, he smacked him across the face with his horsewhip, blood streaming from his nose. I remember it like it was yesterday.

The peace fighters of this world are up in arms and scared out of their whits because Russia has a nuclear arsenal. So does the US, China (in storage, none deployed), France, the UK, Pakistan, India, Israel and North Korea. None of their leaders, including Putin, are suicidal to use strategic nuclear missiles or tactical nuclear missiles against any NATO country and their allies to which belongs the Ukraine. NATO has made it very clear to Putin, any use of nuclear weapons and the Russian Army, Munitions depots, artillery, aircraft and warships, harbors and airfields will be destroyed with conventional weapons in Russian occupied areas in the Ukraine and in the Black Sea. Putin has been fighting the Ukraine with limited resources and has tried to instill fear and respect for Russia’s nuclear arsenal that he can’t use if he doesn’t want to leave a totally destroyed country behind, rather than going down in history as a Great Russian statesman which is most important to him.
