China used rigorous isolation procedures to prevent the spread of the virus any further, procedures that no western oriented country can get away with because of human rights violations. Theories as to where this is going are all over the place. A leading German bacteriologist thinks the virus will eventually infect two thirds of the world population equal to flue epidemics unless a vaccination is discovered, which has not materialized for the SARS virus. And it has been established now that the corona virus is a lot more deadly than the flue virus considering the number of infections. The bacteriologist also claims that infections will diminish as it warms up and will return in full force by next winter. So far the Corona virus has claimed the lives of 15% of over 80 year olds and 8% of over 70 year olds, a percentage of age groups that usually has more serious preexisting conditions. This should be excellent news for health insurance companies who are bogged down with claims of the elderly and their numerous health problems. Is the Grrman bacteriologist Gringoloids cousin? Just got his 15 minites of fame. Just like the economist thatboredicted 15 of the last 2 recessiions....

Hey elex, your a 'man of the world'. You seem to claim invincibility. Why not prove it by going into the 'mouth of the dragon'. Time has come to put up or shut up! Prove us wrong! Personally, if you go to Wuhan, or Milan, or any other place that is becoming the ground-zero point of this disease, I hope you do come back untainted. But I'm willing to hedge my bets that you won't be so damn lucky.

No reason to go to Whuhan..and only would go near Milan.if it was summer and I had planned a trip to the Dolomites. For a bunch of Trump supporters who complain about the MSN you sure are brainwashed by them At least your Prez was smart enough to know it is overblown, even if he was dumb enough to.open his mouth and say the truth. Look at basic math and statistics and compare the risk to.other things. It is miniscule. Maybe just camp out on a cot in your basement and you will be safe.

Excerpt from an article of New England Journal of Medicine. "On the basis of a case definition requiring a diagnosis of pneumonia, the currently reported case fatality rate is approximately 2%.4 In another article in the Journal, Guan et al.5 report mortality of 1.4% among 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19; these patients had a wide spectrum of disease severity. If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.2" www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe2002387

An uncle here is freaking out and is considering fleeing to one of his fincas until this blows over. I feel like telling him that if he’s more so concerned for his life that he should quit smoking

I know what you mean jafo,my brother is a heavy smoker, and as well has advanced type2 diabetes.Last week he had a heartatack at work fortunately they got him to a hospital in time.Tests discovered he had 2 blocked arteries; 2 stents were inserted,he is expected to recover. This virus outbreak has been a royal pain,I'm a prisoner to this disease even though I don't have it.My girlfriend is driving me crazy;I undedstand her fears'rightfully so being as she is from Shanghai.Being locked down is no fun, tired of wearing masks, and being bombarded with COV19 hysteria.Yesterday I gave in after her relentless badgering to bolster our already substantial food stockpile, not to mention her 24/7 virus up dates. It's beginning to look like Armageddon out there, people are hoarding food and basic necessities.Stocks are flying off the shelf...yup it's a stock sell off! Buy gold,Wallymart and Costco stocks.🤓

Like after 911 everyone stoped flying and the increase in road deaths in a month eclipsed the 911 fatlities. Nervous Nellies..watching to much news and too many sci-fi movies.

Death rate is just over 3 times higher in Italy than in South Korea
Italy has 3090 infections, South Korea has 5620
Italy 107 deaths (295 critical) - South Korea 35 deaths (27 critical)
Italy has one of the highest longevity rates in the world, lots of old people in their 90ties. Could that be be the reason?

Italy today leads the world with corona tragedies again, 148 deaths, 351 critical cases. 3858 total cases now, up from 3090 cases yesterday. 41 new deaths since yesterday and 56 new critical cases.
More new deaths in one day than South Korea's total deaths of 40 and over 6000 corona virus cases. We're talking about a country of 60 million in Italy, just 10 million more than Colombia's population.

Apparently he entered the country on February 26 and was tested on March 2 at the Santa Fe clinic in Bogotá.
Where did he go from the time he entered Colombia to when he presented himself at the Santa Fe Clinic?
Are they tracking down his movements? Self quarantining all those who he had contact with? I hope so.
