One of the projects that will revolutionize mobility in Colombia is the ‘ Bullet Train ’ that aims to connect Medellín and Bogotá in just 3 hours.
Its construction, which is already taking shape, plans four strategic routes. The first of them, with an extension of 310 kilometers, would follow a route similar to the current Medellín-Bogotá highway, passing through La Dorada, Caldas. This route, although shorter, raises the question about its ability to offer the expected speed and efficiency.
The second alternative, a more extensive route of 610 kilometers, would use old railroad tracks and connect Medellín, Bucaramanga, Tunja and finally Bogotá. The third option, with a length of 388 kilometers, would depart from La Dorada, Caldas, towards Girardot, Cundinamarca, before entering the south of the capital of the Republic.
Finally, the fourth option, with an extension of 379 kilometers, proposes a tour of the Coffee Axis, passing near Manizales, Pereira, Armenia and Ibagué to end the trip in Bogotá.
According to the manager of the Antioquia Railway, the Medellín-La Dorada-Bogotá route, 310 kilometers long, it is considered the most favorable in terms of efficiency and accessibility.
¿How fast will the bullet train travel?
According to the studies carried out by the Prototora Antioquia Railway, Trains will reach speeds between 200 to 250 km / h offering a fast and efficient means of transport between the two main cities of Colombia.
¿How much will it cost to build the Bullet Train?
Despite the fact that each time the Bala Train project is established as a reality, there is still no exact figure on how much it will cost to build it.
However, a budget of 3,702 million pesos for studies and designs over a period of 15 months.
