From the article: "The tourists, who were not immediately identified, were snatched from their hotel in Cali, the country's third-largest city and located in Valle del Cauca, in the southwest." www.barrons.com/news/colombian-army-frees-2-kidnapped-canadians-cad8ae61It always seems like the news here is really lacking information. Not sure if it is by design, or because the article was written by AI, or if the reporters are not very good. I always find myself asking the who, what, where, why and how of things...minor annoyance but sounds like the Canadian are okay. I also heard something about a French couple who were traveling Colombia in a RV who were apparently confronted by armed dudes who stole all their stuff on 26 Nov 2023...thought it was on W Radio Colombia but cannot seem to find it . Anyone else heard about this? Be well.

I've never been to Cali and from what I understand I'm not missing much. When I was on Colombian Cupid, I met a woman from there who was nice at first and then played the "my mother needs an operation and my brother lost his job" game. Dropped her like a hot potato!

Never been to Cali either and only drove by Medellín, just not attracted to the bigger cities. Be well.

daluz said: I've been to Medellin and have enjoyed it without any issues. The deal was I didn't go looking for women in bars. Most of my meetings were pre-arranged and I stayed true to 'meet in public places'. Now, I have been to the darker side of Itagüí but that was because the woman I was with, she was showing me her and her sister's 'blue jean' operation there. Many residences have stores built into them which I thought was rather quaint. But I enjoyed it none the less. I've never been to Parque Lleras or Communa 13. Even the 'tourist trap' at Sabaneta was nice and quaint. The closest I got to the Bronx in Bogota was the Candelaria. Don't go looking for trouble and you won't find it. However sometimes it finds you!
