Yeah I saw that on the Gringo Paisas FB page the other day. The bloke said that Colombians are happy! How can they be happy when they are still paying record prices and inflation higher than the US? Ten years ago when I first started investigating Colombia as a place just to visit, I think the COP to Dollar was ~$2500 COP. I don't think it will drop that far and during the next (US), election cycle, I suspect a stronger GOP presence which means more business friendly politics. There's always ebbs and peaks with currencies. I'm sure it will rise again soon.

Its my understanding the drop in the dollar isnt due to the USD but the Peso is strengthining due to the Petro administration scandels. They speculate this has hurt his chances to push through much of his agenda. Basically putting the prakes on his agenda strengthened the peso. I would think its about bottomed out as if I recall correctly the USD to COP was about 3900 when Petro took office.

scumbuster said: I just so happened to be Ibague when they elected him. You would have to look back on the threads but I seem to remember you and vikingo talking about it going over 4000. It meandered a couple times until it went up and stayed over 4K until just recently. I think it drifted down to 2800 in the last 8 years but nothing south of 3K since then.
