So the step-son secured a job delivering bread for Flowers Bakery here in the US. One of the lines they have are Dave's Killer Bread. He said they make a line of bagels but he asked me what a bagel was. I told him it looked like a donut but it is made with a grain dough. Having said that, I told him they are best with cream cheese slapped on them. Then I proceeded to ask him if he ever had bagels in Colombia. He said he never knew anything about bagels until he started this job! So is it true, do they have bagels in Colombia?

Forget it. A real bagel is boiled, then baked. Hard to find nowadays even in the states. Here they are just baked lumps of dough.

We get them for free but those 'Dave's Killer Bread Bagels' go for $6.99 here in the states. I can only think that the yuppies are sucking them up. But the boy never heard of bagels until he started this job in March!

I hope to never see a bagel in Colombia! I prefer to keep Colombia as Colombia otherwise why even go?

@búfalo said: I thought the gringos 'americanized' the country enough to have bagels! Lets see, the McD's, KFC, Hard Rock Cafe, Krispy Kreme to name a few. But I agree with you búf. But I do like some of the 'stuff' they brought here: tamales, (AKA heart attack wrapped in a banana leaf!), empanadas, arepas made with sweet corn meal etc.
