There are so many relationship similarities between the Philippines and Colombia, except in Colombia huge age differences between couples are not nearly as common and there isn't such an onslaught of available willing women in Colombia ready to get involved with a gringo as her family may not approve or because there is a language and cultural difference, nor is it an unwritten law to support the woman's entire family for life in Colombia like in tropical SE Asia.
Even though Colombia has widespread poverty the Philippines seem a hell of lot worse off and women are definetely more desperate. Your opinions may differ.

I remember considering going to the PI as an option. I talked with a few women there. Some of them wanted to sell me 'photos' which suffice to say wasn't exactly what I wanted in a woman. Then there were others 'virtually' throwing themselves at my feet with promises of love, affection and devotion for the rest of my life! One, inundated me with constant phone calls to tell me she loves me, having never met or seen me. But there were those shares of normal pleasant conversations. In the end I sided with the fact that it was easier for me to fly 5 hours to Bogota vs. 24~26 hours to Manila. I didn't like wasting 2~3 full days flying in the air.

vikingo said: You know vikingo, I used to post over on the old ColombianHelp.com forum which until it went defunct, was my source of getting and giving advice during my Colombian experience. I was worried about the language barrier and the site owner said as I was preparing my first trip there, "You are not going there for a final exam! Use what resources you have at hand and don't worry about it!" I quickly learned that 'Google' was my amigo and it proved to be sufficient the whole time. Eventually I learned enough Spanish to stumble through a conversation and be understood. What was odd is that I had 2 full years of learning German in school and only one marking period of Spanish and French, but that proved to be enough as I visited both France and Spain but never Germany!
