If you are a 'weatherhead' like me, you will find this report interesting. A lot of it focuses on the US but there is plenty of global data in there. Interesting is Colombia is 10th in global lightning strikes.

A few weeks back, Luz and I were sitting on the back porch drinking a rum and coke enjoying the warm night air, when I noticed a lightning storm on the other side of the mountains about 30 km away. After looking at this video, it's hard for me to believe that Colombia is way down at #10 when it comes to lightning strikes. Watch it on FULLSCREEN for best viewing

Here on the coast of Ecuador we rarely if ever have lightning. I always loved to sit on the porch at night and watch the lightning even when living in the US.
