scumbuster '208k' in how many days? Al Howie was a local runner;he started running when he was 30,as a way to quit smoking. His training ritual included a few pints before and after his runs, and as well ocaisonally a wee dram of scotch. He ran thousands of miles;I'd see him running the highway,in pissing cold rain.He ran across Canada,4500 miles in 72 days,he did it to raise funds for special needs kid's charities.Barely rested, two weeks later he went to New York to compete in the Sri Chimnoy 1300 mile race which he won setting a new record of just over 16 days breaking his own record set two years previously. This raised the bar for ultra distance running, particularly since he was 46 at the time, and along with his Trans Canada run, earned entries in the Guinness Book of Records. He overcame great obstacles along the way;brain cancer and diabetes.Al was a character,an amazing runner. He passed away few years back, crippled from diabetes.

I am no way a runner of that caliber. I started the month of April thinking it was the preliminary training to the Manta Marathon in August. This was my distance to date since April 1st, but I had a few days I didn't run. Im doing about 10k every day I go out, so its about 20 or 21 days of running. The Strava challenge was to do 200k in the month however I am in a tight race against my # 2 place runner who is just a couple k back. I want to take a couple days off now but if I do he will pass me..If I was 40 years younger I would be running ultra runs but those days are long gone. Next year I would like to run the Bogota 1/2 Marathon in July and then the Manta Marathon in August. Both are now canceled this year.
