There are 2 different flu shots that were made available. There was a 3 strain and a 5 strain. I had the 5 strain shot. But even that is hit or miss. doctors and biologist have to watch and see which ones become prevalent and try to predict just what strains will make it across the pond. Got me to thinking: Does anyone remember getting the flu shot with the airgun?

Also, I don't know what strain it is but one around here is bringing people to their knees! The local medical center is running out of unoccupied beds!

The flu has indeed been strong this year. People who are usually not so compromised have surprisingly died, but most of them had other complications which just made it worse.

I gave up being sick years ago. I don't believe in it and don't get sick anymore

The flu vaccines are a real crap shoot as far as effectiveness from all I have read. Many reports that some caused more problems than the flu would have if no vaccine was given.

scumbuster said: I don't believe it causes more problems but your first statement is indeed correct! The WHO and national organizations such as the CDC attempt to predict which strains will come to light. It's about as accurate as predicting the weather for a certain week a year in advance! I do some ancestry stuff and learned that my great grandmother, great uncle and great aunt all died at a very young age in the mid 1900's. Doing a little investigation, the Asian and Spanish flus were pandemic at that time which I suspect they all succumbed to.

Injections never bothered me so I was fine and relaxed. However some other guys tensed up and left a bit bloodied

There seems to have been an airborne bacteria that have been filling the hospitals here. They claim it isn't the flu. But there have been several people at work who had this, one has been out for 6 weeks now! They don't know what it is but the medical society doesn't seem to be forthcoming about it. I suspect for fear of causing a panic.
