"As part of the confidence-building gestures between the national government and the FARC, the national government has decided, based on its consitutional and legal authorities, to grant pardons ... to 30 guerrillas," the presidential statement said.
It said none of those being pardoned were in prison for serious crimes, and added that they will be helped in finding jobs and receiving social support once they leave prison.
Besides the pardons, the government said teams of health workers would check the health of 106 other imprisoned FARC rebels, and that special holding sites were being prepared for other FARC inmates with an eye to preparing them for re-integration to civilian life.

"It said none of those being pardoned were in prison for serious crimes"
They never are, locked up for not returning library books on time - stuff like that.
This very point in time is where future generations will argue that massive increases in crime started.

If the US is the example of 1st world, which we in Europe would argue is laughable, then good luck to her.

suba , I guess it's natural that most Europeans would be envious of the US It only took us about 100 years to become the leader of the World

I don't want to get involved in this old argument...but I will say this (and then shut up).
I doubt very much than most Europeans are jealous of the US......and I would also doubt very much that most Europeans would consider the US to be the world's leader.

Only North Americans think like that, and then only the ones that don't travel much.

Only North Americans think like that, and then only the ones that don't travel much. I travel more than most Thanks very much! The US is clearly looked at as the leader of the world. I'm not really looking to fight I'm more concerned with SPY calls I have expiring soon I Wont say much about Europe but i do think It is over run with Muslim Scum and I have seen most of it in person and have 0 desire to ever return and I have family there.

See that's where we differ, Australians don't envy Europeans or Americans, Europeans don't envy Americans or Australians, neither see America as the "leader of the world", Russians, Chinese, Canadians - nobody does ...except Americans. It's nothing to do with fighting, only Americans seem to view a difference of opinion as that.
I think you'll agree that the world is in a pretty screwed up mess right now and anyone claiming to have been "in charge"during the start of it hasn't really anything to brag about. You may see Europe as full of muslim scum, we see America as full of gun toting murderers (including the cops), it's about looking from a perspective other than your own.

This my thread (I started it) and it has gone a bit off course now (partly due to me) so I am going to lock it. Anyone wanting to continue discussing world leaders can start a new thread in the 'General' section.
