Sorry didn't see the response. Well I like both destinations. In Nuqui we stayed at Piedrapiedra Lodge. Quite isolated. It's a jungle and sea destination with and whale watching in season. Not everybody likes that but I do.
You don't really stay in Bahia Solano you either go to Playa Huina in lancha or El Valle by road. Huina is sort of protected and you don't get big waves. El Valle on the other hand has enormous waves at high tide. There are jungle hiking opportunities ay both places. El Valle is a full fledged functioning village.
Nuqui is a little harder to get to. The last time I wanted to go (from Cali) the only way you could do it was by overnighting in Medellin both ways, extra time and expense. Of course if your starting point is Medellin you're all set.

The last time I was in the Pacific, I was stationed at Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. We drove to Stinson Beach. I unwittingly jumped into the waves. I learned what 'shrinky dink' was all about!!! A little more investigation taught me that the local current brings water down out of the Gulf of Alaska. Damn! Talk about freezing your nuggets off!!!

I believe they are talking about the Pacific Coast of Colombia, Wildstubby. I was at school in MINSY 36 years ago, but I did not get to go swimming.

The problem was that you dipped your dinky in the wrong part of the Pacific Ocean. The other side is much warmer and therefore little or no shrinkage. www.seatemperature.org/australia-pacific/australia/townsville.htm

Nuqui is serviced by Satena;2 cities with nonstop flights. To Nuquí, Colombia (NQU) Medellín, Colombia 1 hr flight. Quibdó, Colombia 25 min. Pisy little prop planes; as long as you clear the mountains a bumpy landing awaits you. www.satena.com/informacion-comercial/destinos/nuqui/36
