My driver was picking up a document from a company for me earlier today. A flash car pulled up alongside as he was parking and four guys got out claiming to be the police. They told him a robbery had just taken place and they needed to see his cellphone, he showed them it and they examined it and asked how much money he was carrying, he opened his wallet, they took it, jumped back in the car and sped off.
Sounds stupid to be taken in like that but he genuinely believed they were cops.

Several years back an older distinguished looking gent stopped me as I was getting on a bus;he flashed some ID and claimed he was a tourist cop.He said "I'm checking for fake currency" asked to see my money.I called bs and told him tourists cops wear uniforms with arm bands embossed with policia tourista.I pointed across the street in the direction of their office and ordered him to turn himself in.I pushed past him, called him a ladrone y estafador and quickly got on the bus and flipped him the bird.

I saw two fake cops today in Zipa.......but they didn't fool me for a minute. What gave them away? First thing was their height. At about one metre tall I figured they would have been well under the minimum height for police recruits. Also their guns were obviously plastic. Other than that they looked like the real thing!
