From www.foxnews.com/world/2016/12/06/colombians-protest-over-rape-killing-7-year-old-girl.htmlHundreds of angry Colombians are taking to the streets to protest the kidnapping and rape of a 7-year-old girl found strangled in an upper-class Bogota apartment. Police said Monday that security cameras captured the moment the girl was snatched while playing outside her home in a poor neighborhood by a man driving a truck. As many as 40 children are raped every day in Colombia. But the killing has resonated because of the huge class divide separating the girl and the alleged perpetrator, an architect from one of Bogota's wealthiest neighborhoods. A group of 50 protesters shouting "rapist" and "murderer" spent the day outside the clinic where the suspect allegedly checked himself in for a cocaine overdose. A much-larger candlelight vigil was held in a plaza. Was all over the news last night. Apparently the crime scene has already been tampered with. I read he is now under police guard while he recovers from his alleged cocaine overdose. Colombia is a land of child rapists and child killers with the world's three most prolific perpetrators. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Garavitoen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_López_(serial_killer)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Camargo_Barbosa

After reading those three bio's I think the governments involved need to toughen up their sentences, and let them die a slow death.

colombias judicial system is to libral, most know if they get caught, a 20 year sentence is more like 8. look at the narcos and money launderers who get busted, middle men get 15 years, and are out in 4, with all the money,

The Colombvian justice system is a joke. That's why so many things get solved extra-judicially.

Looks like the governemnt has sucumbed to public pressure and they have taken the alleged child killer, rapist before a judge to answer to these crimes.

Most of the time regarding local news no matter how good or bad it is my wife seems indifferent like it's simply Colombia and that is how it is BUT this incident infuriated her like I've never seen her. She has offered the most horrible punishments for this creep imaginable, of course women are very protective of children as they should be. She would like to castrated him and then force feed him his own cajones.

There is a moment in time when child murderers should be released from jail and the time and place of the release should be made public and every single policeman has to stay out of the area until the coroner arrives. I think that would be a powerful deterrent. I understand that is the way in some of Colombia's remote areas.

This story has gotten a lot of publicity, seen a lot of posts on facebook, and perhaps things will eventually change towards harsher penalties. Personally I think once convicted he should be used as a organ donor until there aren't enough organs to sustain life, the grind up what's left for fish food.

this kind of insane sentecing is what forces many Colombians to take extra judicial means to get justice. And this doesn't even count the ones who get off scott free due to corruption and influence whelding. The FARC leaders who stay in Colombia and think they got away with their crimes, will soon start finding out otherwise.

Known FARC leaders aren't going to live here very long. There are too many people who have an ax to grind and most will come up with the money one way or the other to hire sicarios. There will be one assassination after the other.

Maybe the problem starts with the culture?
These girls are the same age as the little girl that was abducted, raped and killed.

The only way things will ever change in Colombia is if people say enough is enough and force the politicos to react.
I heard on the news tonight that apparently the brother and sister both signed the visitor book of the apartment complex on the day of this horrific crime. The security guard was cooperating with the authorities unfortunately he was found dead today from an apparent suicide. They need to lock up the whole family from the sounds of it. Disgraceful.

And if you google "children beauty pageants" you will find plenty of images of scantily clad kids in the US. I seriously don't understand parents who let their kids participate in that crap.

They have a realty show in the US called Toddlers and Tiaras, about child beauty pageants. What kind of sick parent would do that to a child? I guess it is mostly moms trying to live vicariously through their infant daughters.

She went to all these baby pageants and shows. Spent heaps of money attempting to showcase their child. In the end, they wound up with some meaningless trophies and empty promises. Also, there is no real evidence to support it, but their son was extremely ADHD and felt that the world had to wait on him! A true 'IGMO' as Bubba Bechtol refers to them!

jafo19d "Sounds like you're blaming the victim." No ....not at all. I put the blame (for the 'beauty pageant' for 7 year olds) squarely on the shoulders of the parents. I am pretty sure a 7 year old girl doesn't wake up in the morning and think, "Oh boy ......what fun ....today I am going to wag my little bum in front of a lot of drunk old perverts!" My point, that perhaps wasn't clear, was that the Colombian society thinks this sort of behaviour is OK then pretend to want to lynch a sicko bastard because he thinks 7 year old girls are 'sexy'. The kids are completely innocent.

No comparison at all. Although some people do live vicariously through their children's sports accomplishments, sports is a healthy pursuit, physically and socially developmentally wise. Whereass parading a prepubesent child, or infant, in trashy outfits better suited for an East European ho, and opening them to ogling from pedophiles, or worse, is nothing but sick.

barrumundi said: Thanks for clarifying your rational! These parents get somewhat brainwashed or hypnotized that their child is IT!!!!! gallito hit it on the head also with the sports angle. The parents are attempting to live their dream life through the eyes of their own children without any regard to the consequences it will serve them later in life!

When watching above video directly on you-tube y'all will notice the references to similar pre-teen bikini fashion show videos in different countries like Brazil, Venezuela, Russia and the Canary Islands in Europe. Not only Colombia is putting on these disgusting exhibits.

People should live in Saudi etc. Women by law wear the Burqua---some wear the veil--women can not drive--women in hotels only allowed in certain family restaurants-- prayers 5 times a day--
Go live in those religious zealot run countries ---- then maybe come to grips with what democracy is all about--the good--the bad--the ugly---- at least people have a choice in a democracy---which means the vote decides -- not a decision of a Maoist--Stalinist -- Khomeini-- If one wants real results---- Ban the rap music industry--all music videos--all women's dress attire--jewelry - the cosmetics industry---Turn off the T.V.--take the kids cellphone away--do not let them have a computer--do not support the local high school homecoming queen--miss universe pageant--miss usa pageant-- put kids in a religious Muslim school---- live the life of an Amish -- support the local LGBT society -- At least one has a choice --

I think beauty pageants for 7 year olds (at least in bathing suits with dirty old men present) is getting pretty close, even in this day and age. it amazaes me how Colombia is so backwards in many respects. (Banking, government departments, not using internet to pay bills, everything shuts for 2 hours at noon and Sundays, like Canada in the 1960s), (although not as bad as other developing countries), whereas morals, standards and ethics are at least as "loose" ,"liberated" or "non-traditional" (sometimes more, sometimes less) than in North America and Europe (legal Prostitution, singe mothers, underage sex, materialism, corruption , lieing, theft, aceptance of cheating in relationships (for both sexes), legal Marijuana, relative aceptance of homosexuality, and cocaine in small doses). The above are examples. Some things would be considered "good" cultural policy by an average (but not extreme) "liberal" thinker, and others obviously would be considered undisireable or repugnant by the average individual from a more developed country.
