FARC leader hails Fidel Castro as one of the greats BOGOTA – The leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, guerrilla group paid tribute to Fidel Castro on Saturday, calling him among the greats of the Americas and the world. "He's left us as one of the great men of the Americas and the world. Eternal glory to his memory!" FARC Commander Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri, better known as "Timochenko," wrote on Twitter. "Long live Fidel. Damn it!!!" he concluded. The leaders of the FARC are in Bogota, where on Thursday Timochenko and Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos signed a modified peace agreement that brings an end to a half-century of internal armed conflict. Earlier, the FARC's chief negotiator in the recently concluded peace talks with the Colombian government, Ivan Marquez, said the late Castro was "the most admirable revolutionary of the 20th century." "He has left his own trail of humanity in the sky," Marquez wrote on Twitter, expressing his sorrow over the death of the Cuban revolutionary leader and his thanks for his support for the Colombian peace process. Cuba, which has been led for a decade by Castro's brother Raul, was one of the guarantors for nearly four years of peace talks in Havana between Santos' administration and the FARC. "Thank you Fidel for your immense love of Colombia. May the peace agreement in Havana be our last homage," Marquez wrote. Castro died Friday night at the age of 90, Cuban President Raul Castro announced on state television. latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2016/11/26/farc-leader-hails-fidel-castro-as-one-greats/

no surprise here.. whats more shocking is Western leaders praising him..
I think when someone like Fidel passes away, the most respectful thing to do is say nothing.. i.e.--no comment..

A friend of mine from NY recently visited Cuba, he is a writer for a Fishing Magazine. When he returned he offered a statement that I thought odd. You know the most dominating thing I noticed in Cuba is there are NO fat people. Everyone is skinny because they don't get enough food and almost no dessert foods. I did read that the wonderful Commie leader in Canada loved him also.

Hey, that's a new angle. Communism helps with weight loss! Venezuelans are experiencing this benefit right now.
