There's been some rough weather around the Bogota airport. Last week, we almost had to divert to Pereira or Cali due to violent thunderstorms that had the airport closed down for a little bit.

Winter has hit Bogota finally;residents are complaining "it's to cold" Sometimes Bogota's weather reminds me of home - wet and cold, well it could be a slight improvement from freezing in Tunja or Ipiales.

This really sucks. I am in Aruba. Came here day before Yestrday. Same story. Flights between Peeira and Bogota delayed an hour.
My girlfriend is supposed to come here today from Pereira. Luckily I got her on a flight scheduled at 10;30 to arrive at Bogota 3 hours before the Aruba flight. But there is no guarantees. Only one flight between Bogota and Aruba, at 2:30PM. If she misses, has to wait another day.We are only in Aruba until Sunday.
Two years ago the same thing happened when I flew in November to Nepal. Pereira closed, had to reschedule all my flights, from 4 flights to 5 arriving a full day later. I was scared I would miss the start of my trekking trip.
Hard Lesson Learned- Avoid flying internationally and / or with connecting flights from Colombia in October or November at all costs, or plan for at least a 1 day delay on either end.

My wife and 16 month son and I will be flying Sydney to Auckland then Santiago. Then we stay one night at the airport hotel in Chile then fly to Bogota then 4 hour lay over until our flight to Cartagena. After 20 hours of flight time we will be spewing if we are delayed in Bogota.

Happened to me some years ago, on the final leg of a long flight from Australia (Houston-Bogota), I think it was also in November, there was fog all over Colombia and the plane diverted to Panama. We were allowed off the plane but were warned to not leave the airport. I had a comfortable couple of hours drinking and eating while my Colombian family were freezing to death, waiting for me outside the airport building in Bogota at 6.00 am. At that time there was no arrivals lounge due to the reconstruction works at El Dorado.

This will be my third time through Chile. We normally would go direct to Chile. As we are flying with a young one m y wife wanted to reduce the flight time so we are stopping in NZ for a couple of hours. I try and avoid flying through the USA especially LAX. Nightmare.

She arrived in Bogota last night, flying here today for only 2 days. Apparently they had hail and had to clear some of the runways. I wonder if they havesnow removal equipment in Bogota? Today looks much better. Pay yer money takes yer chances flying this time of year OZ. Its not so bad if your final connection is inside Colombia and it is delayed. You only get a few hours delay that way.Whats really bad is when the first flight in Colombia is delayed, causing the domino effect, and you loose your downstream connections. That almost always will screw you royally.

Real , real expensive, Choca block full of Big Fat Gringas and Gringos from New York. All the workers are Colombian, Venezuelan, etc. though This time of year kinda dead though Cant understand ow people can let themselves get so fat. They actually seem to waddle along like giant penguins. And man, I just cant freakin stand that New York or New Jersey accent. Almost makes me puke.
