this morning at 3,000 pesos - had been as low 2830 a couple of months ago - US had good 3rd quarter GDP number - about 3% - Fed should raise rates in December, I think that is already baked into the numbers. Good timing for me since I return this weekend.

Does Colombia have big sales the closer we get tomares Christmas? The big chain stores tend to run some sales all the time, Exito, Falabella, Jumbo, etc. Some clothing stores tend to have big sales after Christmas.

It's weird in Colombia vs US - they don't have the huge sales that the US has - they seem to think since it is Christmas - the locals have to shop - so why drop prices when demand is high.

The dollar closed up to 3,047 on Bloomberg.
I'm wondering if it could make another run-up to the highs?
Hope so!

Does Colombia have big sales the closer we get tomares Christmas? OT, but you might want to take a look at PriceSmart. We just bought a Samsung 40 inch smart TV there for 1,040,000 pesos. It was a much better price then I saw anywhere else

I am going to buy US DOLLARS before the election for my upcoming trip to Colombia. If trump wins the markets will drop significantly and the US DOLLAR will strengthen as it always does in times of uncertainty, increased risk.
Note: don't think he will win. hedging my bets none the less.

I moved some investments into cash just in case trump wins and the markets drop substantially.

I moved some investments into cash just in case trump wins and the markets drop substantially. I bought gold stocks in January because they were so cheap, and have sold off some of my equity funds. But the market has held up well going through September and October two historically weak months. I don't know how the election outcome will affect the stock market. But this market is long on the tooth anyway, I don't think it will last but another year at most anyway. The dollar closed up today as 3,072 and change. I have a little reserve of peso's and as long as their cheap will probably acquire some more. www.bloomberg.com/quote/USDCOP:CUR

With Trump's win and discussions around tax cuts and increased infrastructure spending the Fed is anticipating increased inflation and Fed rate increases in 2017, Trump also intends to increase fossil fuels exploration, probably keeping oil prices from advancing too much, which could keep peso cheap compared to dollar

'Largest Oil Field In the United States JUST Discovered' USGS notes that over 3,000 horizontal oil wells have already been drilled and finished in the Wolfcamp section of the Midland Basin. According to Bloomberg, Wolfcamp has been one of the primary targets for shale drillers like ConocoPhillips COP and Diamondback Energy Inc. The Fed has been putting out warnings to the market saying there isn't anything from stopping them from raising rates in December that they can see, (you know they wouldn't do it prior to the election!). What happens after that who knows. The dollar is getting stronger also. Gold has been in decline do to dollar strength and rising interest rates. The dollar closed strong today against the Colombian peso. 3,182 and change. www.bloomberg.com/quote/USDCOP:CUR
