He was found dead in Santo Domingo with only with a watch in his pockets, some handwritten papers and a copy of his passport. What kind of fishing opportunities present themselves here?
Not much from what I've been able to find, perhaps some trout in a small lake in Envigado. Trout in the streams in Guarne, or American largemouth bass in Gautape.
I once saw a video on You Tube of some gringos casting Victoria Secret samples from a balcony to the girls walking down the streets in Medellin, he, he.

If Google maps can be trusted it looks to be a small town outside of Cali- looks fairly remote - it's one of the biggest differences between the US and Colombia - in both countries parts of any city can be dangerous - but in Colombia small towns and remote areas can be just as dangerous - unlike the States where you get outside of cities small town America is generally very safe ( although there is a very bad heroin epidemic going on in places),
In Pintada and Santa Barbara they had a drug dealer roundup last week - arrested 70+ dealers - seemed a pretty high number for 2 smaller towns. But there are almost 0 job opportunities in either for young people to make a wage over minimum - a lot make less - so the drug trade is probably an attractive alternative.

There is a town outside of Cali called Predera, but probably just has same name as place mentioned in article. No fishing, that I know of, in Pradera, Valle.

He should of followed the Australian government travel advice and not left Medellin. "We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to the departments of Antioquia (except Madellin)"..... jajajajajaja The Australian govt' official website for Travel Advice spells Medellin...Madellin. That is a first. Normally it is just Culombia. smartraveller.gov.au/Countries/americas/south/Pages/colombia.aspx

As Forrest typically mentioned--- stupid is stupid----At least he made it to 49--
Now if he had a Colombian wife---she would have told him "do not go there" (Advise for the single posters out here--remember Forrest)

Interpol Australia confirmed that the man had a history in their country of origin for illegal possession of restricted substances, possession of prohibited drugs, assault and fraud, said reported. An Australian citizen, member of the LGBTI community, who lived for 4 months in the neighborhood of El Poblado in Medellin. www.pulzo.com/nacion/australiano-asesinado-antioquia/PP132594A gay, criminal drug addict ............ not your average tourist trying to catch a fish!

Those terms keep on changing, hard to keep up. What does the "I" stand for?

intersex are people whose sex cannot be defined. Mostly holding both feminine and masculine attributes. Natural attributes that is. Otherwise it would be the T of LGBTI.
Just to mention, I didn't know it either like 2 weeks ago. I stumbled upon the LGBTI acronym and was wondering about the I too.

It reminds me of when I went to school in Tennessee for about 6 months. And one time a teacher asked who won some award or something, and I answered some colored kid (i thought this was the preferred term, having transitioned from negro), boy was I wrong. All the black students got in an uproar, and I was WTF?. The teacher said that they preferred to be called Black (who knew?). Anyway, I apologized, and it was accepted good naturedly. Tenn in those days was something. You had the blacks, the rednecks, the "stoners", and the "jesus freaks", it being the buckle of the "Bible Belt". Me being an outsider, a Colombian by way of Chicago, ( a damn yankee), the Necks were leary, thinking I was a narc at first. I got along with the blacks right away, and the stoners, although I was not one, but did like to have a few beers (did I mention it was a dry county?). After a while, the necks came around and became great friends (leary of outsiders, specially northeners, they never really understood the concept of South America, and i think it was best left alone). The one group that i could never "cotton" to, and it was repricocated ten times over by them, were the jesus freaks, no offense to their beliefs, but we just never saw eye to eye. Beautiful place though.

'members of the of the LGBTI community' trust the Aussie's to put an I after T Actually it was the Colombians who put the I after the T ..........not that there is anything wrong that.

Intersex - not sure if the same but at the Olympics in Rio there was a female runner in the 800 meters - she won easily - I believe she was from South Africa - but born with both male and female chromosomes - (parts?), she ran as a woman - a few of the competitors complained - but not her fault - she identified as a female since birth - so competing as a woman was natural - if she had switched sex just to compete - that would have been a different matter.

Is there really a need for the 'I' I mean truly! Not to sound disrespectful, but the number of 'real' hermaphroditic people is anywhere from 0.1~1.7% of the population! (That is all cases of genetically intersexed cases!) Is this another case of a superminority searching for more attention than everyone else? ?
