A friend's 7 year old niece just had surgery and lives in a very small house in BQ with her grandma. I have offered to help with the rental of a larger furnished 2 Br apt with AC and balcony to aide with her recovery as she will be in a wheelchair for awhile. Can anyone point me to a website or agency in BQ to assist me. thanks - the sick girl is on the left -

Good for you to help this little one, I dont live in the area to be able to help you. For a Idea maybe look at adding AC to grandmas house and alittle remodeling it mite be cheaper then moving them for a few months or more.

The house they live in is very small and in a bad area - will put AC soon but wanted the girl to enjoy her recovery period of 3 months in relative comfort and with more room. 2 million is no big deal.

Can't help with the apartment - but good luck with the search - I am sure the nina will appreciate the kindness.
My only suggestion though - don't use Nick Danger when searching for apartment - I would be hesitant to rent an apartment to a Mr. Danger ( especially in Colombia ) maybe Nick Tranquilo.

Do as Dan indicated and make their current place more comfortable--
By temporarily living in a better apt at "your expense" more damage will be done when your money spigot runs out and they will have to return home--
One gives a centimeter--- in these cultures one becomes their permanent banker / benefactor
For 2 mil a month get her a better education --and make sure you are involved with the money directly to her--and not give to her parents etc--as you will be ripped off --- as the money will go elsewhere and little to the girl--

I am sure you can do it for cheaper, with exactly the same results. And make sure they know it is a temporary thing

The size/location/layout of the current apt renders it totally unsuitable as there will be other local family members visiting/assisting/staying throughout the 90 day period. The little girl has a severe condition and her convalescence will only be improved as her environment and relative comfort are improved. Do not anticipate a 7 year old girl in a wheelchair and a 65 year old grandmother doing any "damage" - what a weird statement.

Renting an apartment in Colombia is easy depending on one's income status and class
The above also dictates where one can rent a property---
Trying to evict someone from a rental apt under Colombia law is time consuming and another story if they get behind their rent--
A little secret about Colombian families--when one part of the family requires something--magically the rest of the tribe always somehow manage to come up with a solution---and without outside help--they have been doing so for 200 years--
As this is Colombia---One might contemplate who is expected to pay for all the extra food the other visiting family members will consume---
Right---the host family is expected to provide food---soda water--and beer for for all -- for free meals in Colombia are taken very seriously

more meaningless/unnecessary/boring info...
to wit: all variables have been considered/resolved, and at the moment, the focus of the family (and mine) is to provide the best 90 day environment for the girl to recover from her illness etc etc.

If one is an American--and if she is this important---- adopt her --- bring her to the U.S. and give her a future--
She is among the other 80% of Colombians with little to look forward to except a minimum wage future---pregnant as a teenager-- with little education---and living in a shack--
A U.S. passport is gold for these people ---

Yes, I looked at airbnb. seems a little pricey but will contact some of the people. Right now we are only focusing on the immediate 90 day period. She is in no condition to travel and needs to be monitored by the Dr who performed the surgery. As soon as she can travel she will return to panama city, where she had been happily living the past 4 months with her aunt, her father, her older sister, and her 4 cousins in a luxurious home.

She lives in Panama city --or has previously---or will again---etc etc-- now we learn her family has a luxurious home in Panama city---- we were previously told she now lives in a small house in BQ--temporarily--nothing previously about Panama
A reasonable home in Panama City cots at least 200,000 USD--a semi luxurious home there would be a minimum of 400,000 USD
If the father can afford living in a luxurious home in Panama city -- one might assume he can well afford a 2 mil peso apt apt in BQ for 3 months (700 U.S. dollar a month) to house his kid
Nothing personal--this does not make sense --
What was her surgery--curious why she can not travel back to Panama next week on an hour flight--if she does not get an infection from her surgery in a few days--she is good to go--wheel chair or no wheelchair--for post-op she can see a Panama doctor and forget the apt rental in BQ

ALL SUPERFLUOUS DETAILS.. Where does it day the father owns the home in panama city? Right now the focus for the girl and family is for a 3 month rental in BQ for reasons already mentioned. Staying on topic eliminates useless/trivial/insipid speculation and questions.

Nick, dont listen to the Naysayers..nothing wrong with being a Marrano..as one Marrano to another..its how somepeople were raised..
But end it at 90 days..
Also , if you have lots f money, there are lots of worthy causes and foundations in Colombia..volonteer and see which ones need themost help
If I had 10 million in te bank, I know I would be giving 25% of it away over the years..
But NOT to those fochin DIAN bastsards..no fochin way..over my dead body..you gotta be stupid..

In Medellin there is First American Realty that rents apartments by the month that are furnished - you get gringo rates but its for a short time - is there anything equivalent in BARRANQUILLA? A realty company that targets ex-pats/tourists? - if so they would probably be a good resource, if not maybe reach out to the realty group in Medellin to see if they can give you a referral.
