Three months later, Medellin authorities were able to identify those responsible for the murder of two of the three foreign citizens who died in Medellin in June.
Mayor Federico Gutiérrez explained that three young men, members of the same criminal group, were arrested for their alleged involvement in both killings. "They were identified through an investigation of the police and citizen collaboration with videos of different private security cameras.
The captured were identified with the alias of "Jostyn", "Cumbis" and "Tita", 20, 21 and 27 years respectively. The commander of the Metropolitan Police, General Jose Gerardo Acevedo, explained that the three belong to the band "Viña" dedicated to theft, especially in the south and west of the city.
"Several raids in which objects of value were found stolen were made: watches, money and five plates of motorcycles, of which four were stolen motorcycle," said Mayor Gutierrez.
Among the items seized in the operations there are 13 million pesos in cash, a revolver with 18 rounds .38, a supply for 9mm pistol, a grooming kit for weapons, a pair of handcuffs , two rings, a chain, a bracelet and five watches of high value, apparently stolen, a laptop, six memories and 12 cellular phones.
So was homicide
The first victim was the Mexican national Jesús Estrada de La Rosa, who on the night of June 4 tried to prevent the theft of a motorcycle in the Belén district Los Alpes. According to the report of the System for Security and Coexistence of Medellin, SISC, De la Rosa tried to help the driver of a Kawasaki 650 motorcycle, but the robbers responded by shooting in the head and abdomen.
Murderers, in his flight, left the BMW motorcycle in which mobilized. In subsequent tests, the researchers recovered some fingerprints of the vehicle which then served to identify the driver.
Twelve days later the Danish Tomas Willemoes, 41, was killed with a shot to the head in the region of Provenza, near Parque Lleras in El Poblado. Federico Gutierrez said that it was a case of murder for hire; there was another person who "ordered" the killing but that there is still no information available.
Still pending is to clarify the death of Israeli Shay Azran 37, who was killed with a firearm in the neighborhood Las Acacias on 15 June.
