9 homicides in Medellín metro area over the weekend

Again Aburrá Valley lived a violent weekend with nine killings in less than 40 hours in Medellin, Bello and Barbosa.
The most recent case occurred on Sunday morning in a rural area of the municipality of Barbosa. A 69 year old woman identified as Maria Fabiola Jimenez was a passenger of a public service bus coming from the city of Alexandria.
Jimenez was shot in the body by a hitman who was also the bus and fled as soon as the car stopped. Early reports indicate that the authorities Jimenez lived in the village of Las Lajas de Barbosa, where she was known as a social and community leader. There are no indications of those responsible.
Only in Medellin the number of violent deaths has increased 9 percent (equivalent to 30 cases), compared to the first nine months of 2015. The clashes between criminal gangs remain the main cause of these killings, followed by problems of coexistence and intolerance .
Violent Saturday
On Saturday there were four murders in Aburrá Valley. One was in Bello, where the victim was a woman identified as Maria Mazo Marleny Martinez, 42 were recorded.
Police said Mazo, Santa Rita neighborhood resident, died of his rough treatment with a blunt object and that no further clues about the attackers.
In Medellin, at 12:05 a.m. young Andrés Felipe Restrepo Hurtado, 25, was attacked with firearms by gunmen who fled on a motorcycle after shooting three bullets in the head.
As it reported by the Information System Security and Coexistence of Medellin, SISC, the victim had entries in the system SPOA prosecution as suspect in two homicides, illegal possession of firearms and qualified theft, all in the year 2014.
Around noon there was another violent incident that took the life of Diego Luis Mazo Tabares, 23. Hit men aboard a motorcycle shot the man in the La Libertad barrio and even though neighbors and friends took him to the clinic Soma, died at 12:50 p.m. due to a gunshot wound to the head.
The police in the area has few clues on the case, as when the events occurred were assisting the victims of a fire that consumed a dozen homes and claimed the lives of three children in Villatina.
Finally, just after 11:50 p.m. in a casino called El Corralito, in the Caribe barrio, was killed Juan Esteban Gallego Galeano.
According to police quadrant, the 22-year-old extorted traders in the sector and in recent days had received a death threat by alias "El Diablo", leader of another criminal gang in the sector.
Galeano received three bullet wounds in his head and two in the back. The assailant, according to witnesses, fled the scene in a taxi.

At dawn on September 9 and in the neighborhood San Benito was killed the driver Fabian Gustavo Romero Garcia, 36.
Doctors confirmed that Romero had a chest wound produced with a knife and that due to the severity of the attack, died in the emergency room of Polyclinic.
According to witnesses, the man tried to engage the sexual services of a woman, but a man who was near him went up and attacked him before fleeing. On the reasons for the attack, the authorities do not yet have an explanation.
Two hours later, at 3:10 a.m. a man was admitted to the clinic of the Sacred Heart a 25 years without vital signs, identified as Steven Deyvy Londoño Montoya, and according to his mother worked as a trader.
Londoño had several bullet wounds in the body, but the family could not give an explanation, so the authorities do not yet have a hypothesis about the crime.
In the place where Londoño was attacked, the experts found security cameras that will be reviewed.

Preliminary versions indicated that Manco was leaving his home when he was hit by another man who shot him five times in the head and body. The widow told police that her husband had just struggled with the man who built his house.
