I went to the new Pricesmart in Chia today.
No big crowd but busy, easy access on the Autopista.I am sure the weekends will suck but the weekdays seem to be great.I ran into 4 friends from my town while I was there quess we all had the same idea.

When I was at the one by the airport the prices were not too bad but the biggest draw is things you cant usually find or if you do its 4x the cost. I will be curious to see this new one.

Costco once owned them and then spun them off - they are a stand alone company based in San Diego - but they ship a ton of goods from Miami.
Like shopping in Costco in the States - you go in for one thing and can never get out with a bill less than $100 - usually much more, you can pick up things at good prices - bought a gas grill at a Pricesmart in Panama for a good price compared to local stores - not sure if the Pricemart in Medellin sells tires - but they have good prices on them here in Florida - but food stuff you have to buy in large packages - sometimes it makes sense other times stuff goes to waste and any savings you had goes out with the trash.

I have a membership in Costco,so probably similar to that Pricemart has stores in the Caribbean;saw one in Aruba. I've been to Alkosto in Bogota a few times;same format as the others but no membership fees. One of the gimmicks there, you push a button,if the alarm rings your purchase is free

I like to shop at PriceSmart when I get the chance.
Haven't been there in awhile. as far as the prices, it's good, not great, for some items. I always thought the store was somewhat small, not like a Sam's Club or a Costco in the States.
I frequent the food court with my Colombian friends and they indulge. And they look with curiosity at some of the American products there. Stuff we take for granted in the States they have never seen, especially in the food section. And there's some things there I can't find or have difficulty finding anywhere else. Since I go infrequently, I splurge when I do go. The larger quantities seem to fit my infrequent visits there, it's all good.
Reminds me, I need to get a new membership when I go back. Believe the price was $65 mill for two cards for two people. At least that's what I remember, I got a card and my girlfriend did also.

The purchase wasn't free but they gave me a coupon for $150k which was the amount of my purchase.
