I wonder whether Colombians will need visas to travel to the tourist mecca of Azerbaijan.
Colombia and Azerbaijan To Sign MOU On Tourism Cooperation
From www.news.az :
Azerbaijan and Colombia agree on contacts of tourism representatives
Azerbaijan and Colombia are likely to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of tourism.
The Ministry of Culture & Tourism informs that Deputy Tourism Minister Nazim Samedov received Galindo Martha Pena, Chargé d’affaires of Colombia to Azerbaijan, Fineko/abc.az reports.
"During the meeting the sides discussed the current state and prospects of tourism relationships between Azerbaijan and Colombia, stressed the need for cooperation between two countries’ travel agencies and arranging meetings of tourism industry reps with the aim of developing further cooperation," the Ministry reported.
Following the consultations, the parties agreed to draft and sign the Memorandum of Understanding in the sphere of tourism between Azerbaijan and Colombia.
I’m reminded of a story a Colombiana told me some years ago about her vacation to Turkey. At the time, Turkey was one of the few (if only) European destination that didn’t require Colombians to obtain a visa for travel.
The Colombiana traveled there with a female friend. They ended up having to spend a lot of their vacation barricaded in their hotel room – the Turkish men concluded that only working women would travel to Turkey unaccompanied by a husband or male family member.
If I recall, Turkey, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and most of the South American countries were the only countries that permitted Colombians to enter without a visa. Now, they can travel to a lot of Europe, Mexico, and Central America without need for a visa.
