From executive cars, to vans to even buses a special service for tourism, can be ordered with Cabify, the mobile application that started operation yesterday in Medellin, Envigado, Itagui and Bello. This mobile solution solves mobility needs and aims to include bicycles and parcel vehicles. It is a company of Spanish origin, which arrived in Colombia in September last year, after having operations in Chile and Peru, in addition to Spain, Portugal and Mexico. The vision: to replace private ownership of vehicles and facilitate transport in the so-called collaborative economy. Already it has 800 affiliated vehicles in the country, located in Bogota, Cali, Medellin and Barranquilla. However, the expected number of users and sales were not disclosed by his national manager, Omar Calvo, in dialogue with this newspaper. The investment in Colombia is $20 million dollars and it is estimated that with the service entrance in the paisa capital, its revenue will grow by 35% and its fleet of vehicles by 30%. Unlike Uber, Cabify works with special service vehicles, the famous "white plate" and thus was formed as a company of special public service. It also works with taxis, in partnership with Táximo, a Colombian application that manages nearly one thousand vehicles. Owners interested cabify.com can enter to start the bonding process and provide the service. For users, the download is available for Android or IOS. The company received this year an investment of $120 million in an investment round with the Japanese Rakuten to support its expansion in Latin America. Good, anything that helps break the monopoly of criminals driving taxis. It's 2016 for Gods sake and in the capital city you still run the risk of being driven around by some career criminal.
