Medellin hotel occupancy has exceeded the record for the year and just hit 96%. Medellin tourist arrivals so far this week exceeded 6,000 people, 4,000 more than expected, according to official data. The figure, which is complemented by a hotel occupancy rate of 96 percent, the highest so far this year, is supported in the events held in the city in recent days. These are Colombiamoda, the final of the Copa Libertadores and the start of Feria de las Flores (Flower Festival). According to Juliana Cardona, Secretary of Tourism of Medellin, the economic flow that left this, the highest tourist traffic so far this year, the city is $6 million USD. For the next week, when the full program of the Feria de las Flores is hotel occupancy is expected by the authorities of Medellin to be 80 percent. In total 2,300 foreigners came to Colombiamoda and in those days, at the beginning of this week, arrived in the city 2,914 Colombians living abroad. "The calculation of daily expenditure of visitors to business events, as Colombiamoda, is $250 a day per person; the estimate of those who come to Feria de las Flores is $180 a day, "he said Cardona. A few thousand more gringos in Medellín during Feria de las Flores - only impact will be El Poblado that has most of the hotels, hostels and furnished apartment rentals in the city. Also more gringos in Parque Lleras or should it be renamed as "Parque Gringo" as I have heard some Colombians call it.
The Classic Car Parade is expected to have 1 million seeing it this year and a similar number for Desfile de Silleteros. A few thousand gringos wouldn't even be 1% of the attendees.

Was in centro yesterday , saw a number of large tourist groups being led by a guide, most of them looked to be in their early 20's, more euros than gringos The wife had a MD appointment close to Centro so we did a little shopping also, we had to stop by a pharmacy, there was a local old guy with what I thought was his granddaughter until she got in a cab , she kissed him on the lips and he grabbed her ass. The guy had to be 80 and the girl maybe 18. So not just dirty old gringos deflowering the local girls.
