Was on the JetBlue flight the other night from Ft Lauderdale to MDE, there was an older gringo gentleman probably around 70, I thought he got on the wrong plane. Bermuda shorts, Tommy Bahama type resort wear shirt and sandals - looked like he just bought out the gift shop on a cruise ship or was a well dress attendee at a Jimmy Buffet concert. But what the hell, he was older, looked like he was doing fine financially, wasn't going to pass for a local no matter what he wore , might as well go with your personal style that makes one comfortable

Scum isn't 70 and he appears younger than his age As far as appropriate Medi attire;hopefully he's on a connecting flight to CTG.

I am actually still south of 60.. At least a few more weeks... I will say that here in Dallas (near 100 deg.) every day for the last month, that has been my primary attire. But would not head to Bogota like that.

That's standard attire for a lot of gringos I see walking about down here. Fishing shirts, cargo pants, sandals, sometimes a baseball cap. He's got lots of company here.

Sounds like the "uniform of the day" in Ft. Lauderdale?

sedelen said: Yikes!!!! That's me precisely!!! Also wearing flip-flops. I will tell you this much, it is easier to get through TSA security wearing that attire than in jeans, shirt, shoes, etc. I can't stop wearing a ball cap though. That is part of the military that has been etched into me. I remove it when I am dining, when I sleep, or involved in 'other activities' where it is not required!!!!

Never seen a gringo dressing like that in Bogotá, seen plenty of Colombians in green trousers and yellow shirts, looking like freshly plucked daffodils.

Oh I remember like two years ago I was at the botanical garden, when I saw coming two women in their late 20s, with tank tops, shorts, and flipflops. I thought for a second they were looking for a beach. Of course they were Americans. My gf (well ex gf that is) and I watched each other in total disbelief of what we were seeing. But in general terms this kind of attire don't resist beautiful Bogota climate

Back in the early eighties I was in Cali with a gringo friend and we were going to walk to the Club Colombia for lunch. He comes out wearing flip flops, shorts and a T, like a good Calif son. I told him you can't wear that around Cali, and that he would be refused entry to the club. He insisted it was too hot and that was what he was wearing. Sure enough, every other car that passed by tooted their horn and gave him shit. When we got to club he was already pissed and regretting his choice, and then he is refused entry. I was LMAO as he had to walk back to the house to change. He learned his lesson and it was long pants and regular shoes, a polo or button down from then on.
