A new "American" burger place opened this week, right near where I live. Today we went to try the place, the meat looked ok, nice big grill etc etc.
Anyway they grilled the meat, stuck some tomato on top, put the whole thing in a bun (roll for my American cousins) and then....stuck the whole thing in a microwave for two minutes until the bread was as soft as tissue paper. I asked why and it turns out the bread is frozen. It wasn't possible to pick the thing up, the bread was just a nuclear soggy mess - they gave us plastic cutlery to eat it with.
They look at me as if I have two heads when I laugh. Still, I only get caught once.

Today I got a "Western Bacon Thickburger" at Carl's Jr, in Parque 93, Bogota. Pretty decent burger for a chain brand burger. And no microwave heating for the buns there.

Carl's Jr is noted for there provocative commercials. This is just one of many. For a lot of years that was the theme. If I had put a couple of the others up I would have had to move the thread to the PIT. LOL

Google told me that Carl's Jr is a West Coast brand, an that they're called Hardee's on the East Coast.
Still about burgers, the best chain burger I could taste was Fuddruckers. I went there a couple of times when I was working in Buffalo, NY. I just found out they have two outlets in Bogota. I will have to give a try, and see if they are as tasty as the ones I got in the US. And they cook the patty to your taste. At least they were doing so in the US.

I haven't tried La Hamburguesería but have heard it's awesome. Also enjoy El Corral and Rodeo.

El Corral must be the most expensive hamburger joint in history.

jafo19d La Hamburguesería is kinda cool. They have a few unique twists in the burger prep and sides;crispy papa criolla and pan campesino style buns. The bands are a bonus, well depending on your taste. El Corral is exspensive;the Gourmet version is another add on.Must be printing money with 209 locations!

El Corral must be the most expensive hamburger joint in history. And I don't see why, I tried one when I first came to Colombia and have never been back. Overpriced and not that good. The best burger place I have found here so far is Burger Chef in Medellin. You can order your burger to your liking in several different ways.

Don't like El Corral, and Chef Burger is the best I found in Medellin.

It's good to disagree, Bill is obviously a good guy and is here to debate - coming from the country with the oldest democracy in the world that's a fine attribute.

It's a rip off, considering the (mediocre) quality of the burgers vs pricing. I can't tell about Burger Chef in Medellin, since I am a Bogotano.

I knew the sentence, but not the author either. But since Google is my friend, I know now she was a British writer, best known for her biography of Voltaire entitled The Life of Voltaire. And truth is that this sentence is very Voltairesque (can I say Voltairesque?).

El Corral must be the most expensive hamburger joint in history. Agree. That's why lately we've been ordering from Rodeo which is less expensive
