Apologies if I have asked this before:
Any recommended live music venues in Medellin? - tons of places to go for DJ's but limited live music - I like Trilogia in Barrio Colombia - but the band plays gringo music - which I can catch here in Orlando, would like to find live Salsa - with a band - but never found a place.

Great flamenco music and dancers at El Payes in Barrio Manila on some Saturday nights.

On la 70 between la San Juan and UPB there is a pizza place called "Opera". It's on a side street going west. Pretty good pizza and later in the week they have live music to accompany your meal. Sometimes. Good pizza anyway. Keep looking to your right as you are walking towards the UPB, it's only a few doors off la 70. Not Salsa.

Thanks for the suggestions - I guess I am trying to replicate a place I used to go in Casco Viejo in Panama City - a small club that one Friday and Saturday nights would have a live Salsa band - lots of horns jammed onto a little stage - had to get there at 9pm to get a seat - the band started at 11 - never found anything like it in Medellin - there is a section in Centro a couple of blocks from the Colombiano/ Americano school that has a few clubs and I had heard one has live music - but that's been a couple of years ago.
Tons of places to go for recorded DJ type salsa music - I just like the live version better. Trilogia is pretty good for live gringo music - always the same band it seems - they have a big rotating stage in the middle of the place - gets pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights -

If you like live salsa with lots of horns, my wife and I highly recommend BAR COLON on the corner of Avenida Ayacucho and Carrera 48 in the San Antonio area of Centro Medellin. Not the classiest neighborhood, but never had any trouble. Indoor and outdoor seating. Live music Miercoles a Domingo. Lots of nearby street vendors with decent food. Two hefty security guards keep the beggars and street trash away. Bar Colon
