The use of Paypal is limited in Colombia. You can send and receive money from/to abroad, but can't transfer money to another Colombian Paypal account. You can still open a UK Paypal account if you have a UK credit card. Depending on your needs, there are different possible solutions. I am not a great expert, but I do know some tricks. PM me if you wish to give me more details.

PayPal said adios to Colombia last year. Here's a statement from PaPal last year: "From September 2, 2015, PayPal will suspend the possibility of utilizing online payments for national transactions in Colombia. Periodically, PayPal revises its terms and conditions, and always acts in compliance with local requirements. Colombia is a very important market, and the users of PayPal that reside in Colombia will in every way, be able to send and receive international payments utilizing PayPal. The PayPal customers in Colombia still may use PayPal for international transactions in more than 200 markets worldwide. Customers of PayPal that have questions about this change in terms and conditions should contact PayPal customer service."
PayPal did not completely leave Colombia, but Colombians are not be able to use PayPal for domestic Colombian peso transfers between users or businesses. See: www.financecolombia.com/heres-why-paypal-is-leaving-colombia-exclusive-interview/Note this should have been posted in "Anything Colombia"

Thanks for the replies, I only want to use it to take payments from Europeans for Colombian goods so it should be fine for that - in Colombia we wait for the money to be cleared in the account before dispatch anyway so no real issue there.
And you're right I should have posted this in the Anything Colombia section - feel free to move it if it can be moved.

I use paypal to do purchases from PR but that is just about it. You can't transfer money to PR or out because the gov wanted a cut so paypal discontinued it.

Suba in that case it should be OK. Davivienda has a special deal with paypal: www.daviviendapaypal.com/I did check the link, but my question is how much of a percentage do they charge? Does the government also gets a cut? I ask because here in PR we were able to transfer $$$ to and from USA but the government jumped in to get their cuts. Now paypal stopped the business in PR. Besides, many sellers will not ship to PR any longer because the gov also gets a cut from the seller.

Suba, curious what type of goods from Colombia do you sell to Euros? the wife has had some success in selling Colombian jeans to Latinos in Orlando, on a very small scale We export shoes and handbags to Canada - or should I say my wife does, now she wants to send consignments to London, hence the post. I don't get involved with the business except to run her marketing campaigns so it's not something I know much about but I wanted to make sure the payment methods were clear to her customers. In Colombia and to Canada she has waited until the money was in her account before sending the goods, for Europe I expect I'll set up Paypal now that I know I can.
