Interpol Colombia Officer Arrested for Selling Information to Gang BOGOTA – An Interpol Colombia officer was arrested in Bogota for selling information to the Clan Usuga that allowed the gang’s members to avoid capture and stage attacks on the National Police, army and Attorney General’s Office, officials said. Walter de Jesus Ardila Orrego, who was arrested at the Interpol office in Bogota last Friday, is being held in prison on the orders of a court in the northwestern province of Antioquia, the Attorney General’s Office said. Ardila worked as an investigator on people trafficking cases. Investigators have determined that Ardila also transported more than 30 firearms from Medellin, the capital of Antioquia, to Giron, a city in the northeastern province of Santander, to be used to “liberate by force” the Palo Gordo jail, where some of the gang’s members were being held, the AG’s office said. Ardila is also under investigation for selling classified information to the Clan Usuga on the locations of high-level National Police officers, prosecutors and investigators working on “Operation Agamenon,” which was launched more than a year ago to put the gang out of business. The suspect pleaded not guilty to criminal conspiracy, bribery and unauthorized sharing of classified intelligence charges. The Clan Usuga, which traces its roots to the paramilitary movement, is involved in drug trafficking. The gang, one of Colombia’s largest criminal organizations, is led by Dairo Antonio Usuga. laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=2412491&CategoryId=12393

If any of those cops he fingered were killed he should be tried for murder.

Back in 95 my mom's house got raided by the bloque, after Escobar had been killed and they had turned the attention to the Cali Cartel. It turns out a property she was renting to some guy that was using it as a car dealership, and was apperently laundering for the cartel. She had no idea, although it was kind of obvious to everybody else. She invited the Fiscal and Major in charge of the raid to have lunch with her, and had cokes and sandwiches served to the troops, and that was the extent of the search. They left their cards in case she needed anything. BTW, the car dude was shot down a couple of years later. Real nice guy, at least outwardly, not your typicap low life traqueto.

Agreed, unfortunately they reckon that he wasn't acting alone and it involved numerous cops doing the same thing.
