BOGOTA – A Colombian soldier was killed in a rural area of the southern province of Caqueta after being shot by a sniper who, according to the army, belonged to the FARC, military officials said Saturday. The soldier was identified as Jaime Perdomo Valencia, 30, who was carrying out “military operations of territorial control” around the small town of San Pedro in the Florencia municipality, the army said in a communique. Perdomo was shot in the chest by a sniper who, according to the troops, belonged to the “3rd Front of the FARC,” which they charge with the attack. The soldier was treated by combat nurses but died of his wound, the note said. The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, initiated a unilateral cease-fire on July 1, which, according to various organizations following the conflict, it has complied with ever since. The Colombian government and the guerrilla group have pursued for more than 3½ years a peace process in Havana, where they have reached agreements on four of the five points on the agenda for establishing a definitive accord, something they hope to achieve in the next few months. laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=2411679&CategoryId=12393

mudd yes, and now the problem is getting bigger and bigger. Colombia is now swimming in coca. The production is now higher than in 2002 when Uribe took office. For the same reason the BACRIM were growing, too.
