Aranjuez is actually touristy - that is where Parque Explora and Jardín Botánico are located.
All of these homicides yesterday were in more dangerous parts of the city where it's not such a good idea to go after dark. The only one of those areas I have been to after dark is Robledo where part of my Colombian wife's family lives - but I only go there by taxi.
Yesterday was the most violent day of the year so far. But this was nothing compared to the past -- there have been much more violent days in Medellín historically. Back in December 1992 the city was averaging 23 homicides per day. December 1992 was reportedly the most violent month in well over 40 years in the city. The city has come a long way in the past 25 years.
