Venezuela is introducing power cuts of four hours a day starting next week to deal with a worsening energy crisis. The cuts will last for 40 days as the country struggles under a severe drought limiting hydroelectric output. Announcing the restrictions on Thursday, Energy Minister Luis Motta Dominguez said the hours of suspension would be published on a daily basis in newspapers and on ministerial websites. He added that the cuts would not happen between 20:00 and midday. It is the latest setback to Venezuela's economy which has been hit by a sharp fall in the price of its main export, oil. The country's main brewer, Polar, also says it will stop production because it has no dollars to buy grain abroad. The company, which produces 80% of the country's beer, says 10,000 workers will be affected by the stoppage. See: www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-36108295They already made Fridays a holiday trying to save energy - now cutting power four hours per day. Things continue to get worse in Venezuela. This is a country with shortages of everything - electricity, beer, medicines, toilet paper and all basic foods with long lines to pretty empty stores throughout the country...

They are sitting on an ocean of free oil and rely strictly on hydro. You would think they might want to diversify a little on their power generation.

Maduro is going to incite a civil war and then claim it was started by the US.

Maduro is going to incite a civil war and then claim it was started by the US. Yes I'm sure that Maduro probably blames everything on the US -- including Venezuela's electricity shortages and shortages of everything else, the increasing violence in the country, the high inflation, protests, smuggling of things that are subsidized and cheap in Venezuela to Colombia, and everything else wrong with the country...
