Scott should not comment on things he knows nothing about.
Cost advantage = Scott shows his complete ignorance again. Many industries can not be fully automated and required specialized knowledge that can't be bought. You also need a cost competitive raw material supply chain. If any of these raw material suppliers is not in line with China's price / quality you won't compete on price. You just can't buy a robot and magically be in production. Its not that simple.
Biased Courts >> I agree... but what % of businesses wind up in a Chinese court ?
Reputation >> Does Scott think the USA is the only market for US businesses in China ? China has a monopoly on certain sectors,,,, At the moment USA companies / Consumers have NO choice but to buy Chinese goods.

I remember when I worked for American Hofmann in the early 90's we were manufacturing and selling balancing machines for China hand-over-fist. At the time they were being bought up by the suppliers for Globe Motors. We made manual, semi-automatic, and automatic, (moving beam) balancing machines. They were sucking up the manual and semi-automatic machines as soon as we made them. When I asked the rep about why they don't buy the automatic machines he told me that it would take years for them to recover the money for automatic machines when they can pay a pittance to labor and have an endless supply of manual laborers!

Yes.... but the days of Cheap Chinese Labor are ending. Look what happened to Taiwan and Korea. I am about to hire an employee in Shenzhen.. and the salary is just under what I'd pay in the USA . THis is for a skilled college / Grad. Off the farm labor I am sure is less. China knows this and this is one of the many reasons they are pushing into Africa and the Middle east, the future home of their factories
