so from time to time i ship some things down from the US to colombia... mostly things or something i cant find here....mostly through Sv services which has been good so far..... colombia signed a free trade agreement with the US years ago.... but is still charging fees on a lot of imported things.... they did change a few things beginning of this year.... anything under $ 200 no tax.. but they do still hit you with a small fee......
but here is the part that you have to be careful with ..... if its over $ 200.... say $ 230.....you pay a tax of 30% ...... they dont charge you a taxed based on the $ 30.. but the whole $ 230... so you would be paying a tax of $ 69 for $30..... crazy
so if your thinking of shipping something to colombia over $ 200... your better off waiting until you go on your next trip and bring it in your suitcase

Thanks mudd. I buy a lot of stuff from the US, but mostly on Amazon because of their free shipping and less than a week delivery time. No taxes or fees. Real rip off is MERCADO LIBRE. Almost anything bought there and imported from the US, the sellers still charge the import duties. I bitched about this on their web site, and received a phone call asking for specific sellers that did this. Mercabo refunded my overpays, and I noticed that these sellers are no longer listing products for sale. Buyer beware.

I only buy stuff from them that ships here, and only if it offers free shipping (over a $35 order). As time goes by, more things are added to items that they ship here. - JAMES
