Is anything open through the week. If I go to a mall with a Juan Valdez or restaurants will they be open or are things locked down tight?

Dont know anything about Bogota but I heard on weekends it is shutdown like Medellin is
Now is NOT the time to come to Colombia..still.protests and violence going on sporadically anywhere..espescially in the big cities.
I.was even inconvenuenced today in Carulla in Manizales by protests in the streets. The staff forced us to leave early in a panic because there was a demonstration outside and they wanted to shut the CC down in case the demonstrators decided to come inside and vandalize all the businesses like they did last Wedndsday.
Best to stay in Ecuador for next couple weeks minimum.

I agree with ELEX. Now is not the time. Keep a close eye on the news. Maybe by next week it will be OK.

Lots of great news this week preceding my planned trip. If we still decide to fly in, we will be arriving late hopefully after the protesters are all back home. Will just need to get to the airport early before any protests start when we leave Friday. Only 4 days there. Will not be in Bogota at all other than to and from the airport. All that on top of the virus.

Good deal. Things are starting to wind down a little. Maybe by next week it will be quiet. Got my 2nd COVID shot yesterday. She hit a nerve in my shoulder muscle and it hurt like hell all day and last night. Today, it's fine. Glad that's over.

All that on top of the virus. We flew into Bogota during the last big protests. The police were lining the road approaching the airport well before the protesters got organised. Traffic was still flowing. Admittedly we were staying at a hotel near the airport.

Mother-in-law was in Bogota to get her visa at the US embassy on Monday and Tuesday. She returns to Ibague today. We've been watching Caracol and RCN. Duque caved to the demands. I don't understand what they are still protesting about. Word was that Ibague was in the same situation as Cali. But the son tells me he has been in contact with his friends and said there was no basis to substantiate that. The world continues to turn!

OK.. I am going for it. sounds like it calmed down a little. I saw the end of last week they blocked the autopista south bound in Chia @ the Centro Chia Mall leading into Bogota. That's out in my neck of the woods. I will be heading out of Bogota from the airport tomorrow evening about 6:00. Our driver is very good in Bogota so if something is going on he should know about it and can skirt around it. Hope its clear sailing.
