I have had that problem twice in the past with Davivienda.... had to be reimbursed by my bank, Davivienda wouldn't do anything. I get the best service when I use my Schwab card at Colpatria.

I just had this happen to me at Kiwi in Manta. Kiwi is like Home Center in Ecuador. They have an ATM in the front of the store. I have used it many times with no problem and about 3 weeks ago I didn't get my cash but it had deducted if from my account. I called Schwab and and about 3 days later I had a provisional credit. Still waiting for it to become a permanent credit. Back in October my wife had it happen to her at a little plaza near our apartment in Cajica and it took about 6 weeks before the credit became permanent. Up until that incident we had never had an ATM stiff us, so it seems to be a more frequent occurrence.
Our debit cards expire in October this year, so I dont think its related to the new card as far as getting stiffed at the ATM.

well as long as they keep fixing the problem with a simple phone call I guess its worth it. The free ATM fees is a big plus. Here in Ecuador The reimburse you once a month for ATM fees. Not as you go. I usually get around $30 a month reimbursement.

I heard that about Davivienda, but it only happened once (out of several hundred withdrawals) about a year and a half ago and I got reimbursed
This was with a TD Canadian card before I gota KOHO card which has similar features to Scwab or Capital one..I have had zero isssues with KOHO at Davivienda
There are less Colptria ATMS around and sometimes they just dont work for me (but no withdrawals from my account)

I have an account with USBank in the United States. It is for active duty military personnel and veterans. There are no charges for transfers from them to Bancolombia and the exchange rate is always par for the day of the transfer. Using a debit card from an American bank to get money from a Colombian ATM is always a rip. You get a discounted rate and pay a conversion charge to boot. When my monthly pension hits my USBank account I transfer what ever I need to Bancolombia. There are no fees and the exchange rate is not discounted. I use my Bancolombia debit card when I need cash here and pay no fees for its use. When our son was in the military, he turned me on to USBank. Over the 13 years we've been here it has saved us considerable money.

You guys should count your selves lucky as you obviously never experienced an Australian bank. We have 4 Australian banks that dominate our market. I use to be charged around $8 every ATM withdrawal no matter what the Colombian bank was let alone the currency exchange tarrif.
Thankfully we don't have to send money to Colombia any more but when we did we used worldremit to transfer directly to a bancolombia bank account.

My son was active military as well, but has retired.... before me!
