Duque doesnt know squat Rather than relyingon politics or even medical people (because they will lie or err as well), i just look at the statistics, and the mathematiacal trends. Sure there will be some over and under-exageration there, more in autocratic developing countries than in developing countries. But overall trends are usually accurate way of gauging things inthe long run. Right now , the trends for Colombia dont look good. Could be for a myriad of reasons. Not following social distancing and PPE rules in the barrios populares, improper and dispropriate enforcement of the rules. (stopping people from jogging out in the woods where no body exists, but allowing an Orgy of 500 people to occur in the Comunas of the major cities, or allowing jam packed crowds to happen during a day without IVA), inadequate and uncoordinated testing, no contact tracing and isolation, isolating areas where there are very few cases, but letting "clusters" in Bogota, Cali and Cartagena to run amok, inadequate use of clinics , ICUs, etc. and non proactive medical staff (i.e too laxzy or scared to go into the "hot spot" bar¡os to conduct testing, tracing, isolation etc., corrupt medical system stealing funds.yadda yadda yadda But the point is...the cases and deaths are increasing rapidly, possibly exponentially- the next few days and weeks will tell if the cases and deaths per day have reached a plateau ..a permanent plateau from which they decline, or just a temporary one from which they will continue thier upward climb. Every country has followed the same pattern. Big spike, looking like the world is going to end (or at least their country is). Then a leveling, and then a decline. Countries where the cases have started to rise again (like the US) are still see a declining death rate. This means the virus is getting weaker. Colombia still has a long way to go And they extended the cuarantine restrictions until June 15. And Duque talks about " Drastic Measures" because of these azzholes throwing giant orgies in the major cities Which could mean throwing gringos jogging out in the boonies were nobody lives in a jail as an example because they are too scared to go into a crowd of 500 drunken Colombians

After a very careful management of corona resulting in roughly a fourth of casualties of it's neighbors, the UK, France, Spain and Italy, Germany had also hoped to have reached a plateau and a downward trend of the infections. But a few thousand Eastern Europeans on a work permit threw a monkey wrench into their carefully orchestrated plan.

Looking at the stats for the last 6 days (6/19-6/24), there have been 16526 new cases reported in Colombia. An average of 2754 new cases per day. As of noon today, 2404 confirmed deaths overall, or 3.26% of those infected. Looking back at June 1-6, there were 7252 new cases for an average of 1208 new cases per day. So in 2 1/2 weeks, the number of new cases per day in Colombia has more than doubled. If this trend continues, the number of new cases will surpass 5000/day by mid July. More than 60% of the new cases reported are along the coast ... Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Cartagena. From any perspective, this does not look good.

Most costeños are badly disciplined, so are folks in the low estratos in the other big cities. Hopefully it is them who will be quarantined and not all of us. Probably have to get the military involved to control them.

Of course a mutation of rona into something more deadly would change things (including my opinion) very quickly.

Excellent site, cali, percentage of fatalities and learning flags of different countries. A 16% fatality rate in Belgium, 0.5 % Costa Rica - unbelievable!
