I think we're several weeks ahead in the States as far as the spread goes. They're looking for a peak in early May for the States. I heard that being tossed around as for late April to Mid May. We don't know yet, mudd, which will be the worst place to be a couple, three months from now.
But for any of the older guys with heart or lung problems, overweight, diabetic, smokers, it may not be such a bad idea to get out of here. They may be the last ones to get into intensive care, if ever, as a foreigner.
As for me, I ain't never going back no matter how bad it gets here, I wont abandon my loved ones.

In all seriousness "GET THE f*#k OUT" you are not going to want to be stuck in South America in a month Colombia has no idea what's coming and the Hospitals are under staffed and ill prepared. Also there wont be any help coming from the US or Europe anytime soon. I wouldn't wish being caught there on my worst enemies.

Thats really rich. I can hardly believe the stupidity. A "humanitarian" flight from a country with 9 cases per million in a total quaram¡tine to a country with a rate of 206 per million were half the population doesnt evem take it seriously .. with arguably an even worse medicare system. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countriesTalk about going from the ftying pan into the fire. How stupid can people get??

Those 9 cases per million in Colombia could easily turn into 90.000 cases per million in the next few months.
If the virus hits Colombia like it did Italy or Spain there won't be many people left in this country. There won't even be an argument which age limit gets into to the ICU's because those few beds will be preserved for the upper elite and high ranking government officials.
Colombians have no idea when and how this is going to end and neither have the Americans, Italians or Spaniards.
All these countries committed the same grave error, not taking corona seriously and failing to stop international air-, sea-and ground traffic.
All corona cases were initially imported and laws that countries have to take their own citizens back was the straw that broke the camels back.

Always looking athe worst case scenario. You seemed to have forgot about DIAN or one of your Latin American exes raiding your US bank account since this came up. Tou dont have many year left (neither do I for that matter) why make them more misereable than you have to?

this is just my opinion, but when trump stopped travel from china, he should have done the same for EU. but waited, prob because people would have freaked out and burned him at the stake, now these same people complain that the virus is in the US
as for colombia, Duque should have blocked returning citizens two weeks earlier, but didnt. and now, its starting to rise here, not fast but slowly. as of this morning colombia has 470 cases. how many are actually here, who knows. but once it gets into the barrios, where the people are still running around like any other day, it will spread FAST, and these same idiots will blame the govt for the virus.

People need to educate themselves on the subject. Read scientific journals . Go to the site I mentioned early to see daily and future trends, in various countries.Base their thinking on logic, and science from reputable sources, not"Tinfoil Hat" news sites, or whatever. www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/Look at the worst cases right now in tiny countries like Iceland and Luxembourg, the infection rates are by far the highest in the world at 2000-2500. Even if these quadruple at the end of the day, they will still be in the 10,000 per million range or 1% of the population. The death rate in this case woud be extremely low. To pull wild and crazy numbers like 90,000 out of your butt and saying the virus coud wipe ot most of Colombia is based on irrational, ilogical emotion, not on science, statistics and mathematics and common sense. Makes it difficut to take the poster seriously, and Not very characteristic of German mentality I would say. First of all dont expect to see any reduction in cases for at least 2 weeks in Colombia. The reason is the incubation period is 2 weeks, sometimes as much as 23 days. In the statistics provided we are seeing the infections that occured 2 weeks ago. They are on day 14 in Ecuador of the National Quarantine and the numbers still rising. That is why I think we will be going into AT LEAST another 3 weeks of this after April 12 , both here and in Ecuador. So expect cases pe r day in Colombia to continue increasing for at least 2 weeks.. probably 3 weeks As far as people in the barrios not following the rules , there will always be this issue- will need more police and army enforcement. It is no different what the middle classes in North America and Europe are doing in countries where there are no Quarantines. While this will reduce the results and diminish the "flattening " effect of the curve, just imagine how much worse it would be if there was no enforced quarantine.

My figure of 90.000 infections per million amounts to 9.5% of the total population, not that far fetched for a third world country.
Of course I painted the worst case scenario unlike my opponent, lol, who shows us scenarios that are to his! liking and suit him best, wishful thinking.
We've got to remember the largest part of Colombia is not as civilized and advanced as the mayor cities, they are running around with lose fitting face masks and hope for the best, hoping not to get caught when they're socializing. The nearest medical facility is more of a first aid station where serious cases are packed in a mediocre ambulance and sent to Pasto, Popayan, Villavicencia or Barranquilla, even over there ICU stations to treat COVID-19 are few and far in between. It will be like Africa where hundreds of thousands if not millions will die, if an affordable vaccine isn't found soon.
This is only the beginning of the spread of the virus, it may slowly come to a halt and fade away or Bogotá will turn into an epic center like New York, Milan or Madrid, we just don't know.
Italy's death rate is at 9% of infected cases, Italy has 5000 ICU stations and a huge medical staff, how many ICU's does Colombia have, 300?
BTW, Elex's accusations about DIAN or an ex gf getting into my US account is total nonsense. I don't have the kind of income nor assets that DIAN could possibly be interested in nor did the ex Colombian floosy get into my US savings. She actually had the nerve to ask the attorney right in front of me and received a clear NO. Elex, stop spreading rumors about me, just because you're upset you bought tons of oil at $40 is no reason to lose your composure and attack others.

Well, if anyone now living in a developing South America has someting to worry about it is Scumbuster.
Despite the Quarantine in Ecuador (and I hear various stories on how complete a quarantine it really us- Do they really get to roam free in the morning until 2 PM?), the new cases keep growing at an exponetial rate.
There are now 1800 in a country of 12 million. That gives it an infection rate of more than 12 times Colombias, and apears to be an explosive growth rate.
I think this started earlier and got worse there because of all the tourist visiting. When I was there it was choca-bloc full of Euros. I am sure they brought it there.

The quarantine here is basically house arrest. You can only go out for food or meds during the day intil 2:00 PM. Then locked down all afternoon and night. Anyone found outside is fined and if its a foreigner fined and could be deported. They have Plica Placas on your cedula to know what days you are eligible to go get food. Only one person per car. Taxis only 1 fare in the car. Ecuador was the second country after Brazil to have a case so it makes scene we would have more than Colombia. No doubt in a week or two you will be right where we are. Our big start was a woman from Spain was here 2 weeks spreading it before presenting symptoms. She in fact was the first death here. I live in a private development of sorts (only 5 houses inside a gated and fenced perimeter) and we keep the gate closed and at least in here we can get out ant walk a little. Visit others in our complex. We all stocked up and no one has been outside our complex in 10 days. In fact we all decided that when we all hit the 14 day mark we are having a BBQ. The worst thing now is I only have about 200 meters of private road to run. Do you know how boring it is to run 5K on 200 meters of the same road. I am supposed to run 10k before the end of the month for a Strava challenge.. LOL. Its not going to happen. LOL Not too worried about the virus in here. I would much rather ride it out here than Bogota. Just want to get out and run and walk the beach again.

I would much rather ride it out here than Bogota. Just want to get out and run and walk the beach again. Okay- I am now clear on the Quarantine there. It is exactly the same as here, except everything closes at 2 PM, whereas here it is 7PM, you can still go out and shop or have domicilo come to your house until 7 pm. But you will have cops bugging you and asking you what you are doing walking around. A little less hassle in cars or taxis, if there is only one passenger. I doubt Colombia wil reach the same level as Ecuador, at least will not reach its peak for several resons, 1. Lot less tourists coming here than in Ecuador, espescially this department, Santander 2. Flight bans and actual quarntine was strted much earlier in the event, and way earlier thanin European countries. www.larepublica.co/economia/los-dias-que-los-paises-se-demoraron-en-tomar-medidas-para-contener-el-covid-19-2981808?fbclid=IwAR3p7nZiN4892zxngG6yOrl02_puuuuA2SBQ0L-T3cUQDgOsPB_1wpcefUAHopefuly Ecuador starts seeing a reduction in new cases in the next couple weeks, as they will pass the 2 week quarantine period, which equals the incubation period. Thesee quarantines dont work unless they are 40 days. The governments start off with 3 days, then 19 days, then another 19, to give the people false hope and so they are not overwhelmed.
