I am lucky to be able to keep myself occupied at home as I finally have time to sort through a lifetime of pictures I took since I was 12 and edit and coloring hundreds of old family pictures going back to my great grandparents using Photoshop. But our highly intelligent new daughter keeps me on my toes, teaching her English and geography while the colegio has closed, most likely until the end of the current semester and helping her download books in PDF she wants to read.
A few weeks ago she approached her mother with the help of the rectora del colegio to my big surprise and 'obligated!' her mother to message her bio-dad on the rectora's laptop to tell him she is alive and well. He was very happy to hear about his daughter, said he's been looking for her for years and will come and get her as soon as he returns from Buenos Aires where he is right now with a heart transplant team for children and that he moved to the United States four years ago. She told the rectora to write that no way will she join him, she is happy where she is at and isn't leaving her seres queridos (her loved ones). I told her not to be so harsh on him and at least send some pictures of her. She said once he sees what she looks like he will be more determined to locate her, he will also be able to tell by her college uniform which college she attends. Never even thought of that. At least it was a start...

Any germs that are on the outside of the mask would have been in your lungs had you not been wearing the mask. So I would take my chances on a few that may get on my hands when removing it. Getting it on your hands in no way infects you as long as you don't then put your fingers in your mouth or eyes.

It is concentations that matter And other than that a properly installed N-95 (which is very uncomfrotable and very difficult to fit) all masks are useless against the virus Dosome reading from reliable sources (one of the above or similar) Do some reading

7. Are there downsides to wearing a mask? Adams said that people who aren’t trained in how to use them tend to touch their faces a lot, which could increase their chances of becoming infected with the coronavirus. The WHO emphasizes that if you’re going to use a mask, it’s vital to do so correctly: put it on with clean hands, replace it as soon as it becomes damp, remove it from behind without touching the front, wash your hands afterward, and dispose of the mask properly. The WHO counsels against reusing masks that are made for a single use.
They also recommend against using them unless you are sick, in which case you should bnot be out and about
I see all these Colombians with these cheap face masks. I wonder how many follow these guidelines

But the pauthorities are toodumb to educate the people. But I thikits same problem everywhere with facemask eductaion and shortages. Cant signal out Colombia. I only founf one N-95 a couple weeks a go and I am keeping it for a special occaision It hurts like hell being a caged rat, espescially for a free bird like me, but we have to grin and bear it until thiis over

Getting it on your hands in no way infects you as long as you don't then put your fingers in your mouth or eyes. An infection is caused
1) by the breath of an infected person within 5 feet of you (or 1.5 meters for you foreigners) and him or her sneezing or coughing within that distance of course. After 5 feet the virus falls to the ground and causes no harm.
N95 masks help, especially with a filter (got 5 of them) if they are fitted correctly and no virus can enter from the sides. For people with beards they are useless, like all those cheap face masks everybody is wearing because the virus can enter the inside of the mask from all sides.
They are supposed to help infected persons from spreading the virus. That may help somewhat, but is probably meant to identify an infected person to stay away from him.
2) the virus enters your system through liquid of your eyes, nose or mouth, so when you touch anything like a handrail, doorknobs, -handles or merchandise an infected person touched and touch liquid on your face with your contaminated hands, you've got the virus. It's as simple as that. That is the reason hand washing with soap is so important and wearing disposable latex gloves; when touching things like rails or merchandise, handling money, type in the code of your debit card in the datáfono or POS terminal.
Gloves are more useful than a face mask if you keep your proper distance from others and stay out of lineups.

Caracol News:
President Duque is warning us that the quarantine may no be over on April 13 and older adults to stay in their homes for sure until May 30th.

What's worse is that my wife is in a 'forced' quarantine! Because of hospital rules I was denied entry because she went from 'critical' to 'stable'! She's intubated, can't see her family, doesn't know the native language well and I'm sure she is extremely apprehensive and worried! This isn't for just the ICU ward it is for the whole hospital. Even prisoners are allowed visitors!

gallito said: My biggest problem with Spanish is the nuances, especially when I have to write it. I have Rosetta Stone and one of the exercises is to write a spoken phrase! It is difficult to catch exactly the enunciation and accent to write it. Most of the time I have to repeat the exercise about 4 or 5 times before I get enough to pass!

Second person I know died. 72 and I believe had already had a stroke before. He and his wife would go to our salsa class. He'd mostly just sit and watch. The last one we had I asked myself "should they he here?"

I went to the lake today my first visit this year.I usually start to go when the weather improves.I was suprised by the number of people that were there. The lake is small, the beach may hold a dozen people and the dock really doesn't allow much social distancing. People were honoring each other space as much as they could. There were many new faces, younger folks too, adding to the beautiful lake scenery. The water was still a little cool, water was gin clear,it felt refreshing.I dove in swam a bit, floated on my back amongst the warmer patches on the surface of the lake. For a moment I was transferred back in time,to a simpler life, spending my late afternoons at my favorite lake.
