What do you get when you take about the same amount of people during New Years Eve in Times Square, squeeze them along a street about a mile long, add plenty of color and Colombian culture, toss in some street vendor food and a generous amount of aguardiente and gently stir? Why you get the beginning of Folclorico in Ibague where tons of Colombians come from all over to party and celebrate. Herman Wouk wrote as an aside in his book 'War and Rememberance' about the neighborhoods vying for contention in Siena during WWII. I now understand the point he was trying to make.

I hope the photos suffice for everyone. It was the only way I knew how to reduce the size using Google Photo.

Sorry I'm just replying. I returned home to no internet, (again!). Anyway the weather was awesome. No rain except for 1 night it rained during the late night/early morning. The sun was out the entire time. Tons of people. And they were streaming out of Bogota Friday night for Ibague!

The one time I went to Ibague as an adult a few years ago I couldn’t help but notice that the women were really pretty.

jafo19d said: My friends at work jibe me because usually when I go to Colombia, I take pictures of where I've been or what I ate. The one guy wanted to know, "Where's the women?" So I though ok, I did nothing but take photos of the good looking women all over the parade route, and the 'reinas'. So much so that I killed my battery on my cell phone. While the 'communa reinas' were passing by on their floats, they would throw kisses to the crowd. One caught my eye and she 'tossed' one my way. Being the caballero that I am, I tossed her one back. My novia's daughter jabs her mother and says, "Look at him!" So that was the thing for the remainder of the week! I would have liked to seen the queens from the department of Tolima. The novia's son introduced me to his girlfriend. I know damn well that we didn't have them like that when I was 16!
