I watched that. I wanted to watch something else but was outvoted by the wife and daughter - then it got interesting!
Colombians are already saying it was robbed

IN one of the most unexpected endings to a Miss Universe final, Miss Colombia was mistakenly crowned as the winner. The host had accidentally read out the wrong name.
His mistake meant one of the world’s most watched beauty pageants ended in shock and tears as Miss Colombia was demoted to being the first runner-up, and Miss Philippines was declared the official winner.
For around 90 seconds, Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez was crowned the winner and had been given her flowers. She was basking in her moment of glory on stage.
She was then forced to give up her crown to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
The ending left viewers on the edge of their seats.

Maybe the payola cheque bounced?
Miss Colombia needs a good lawyer.

It will work out well for her I bet she gets more press and more opportunity than the winner. I mean she is the bigger story how did it feel to have won for 5 minutes only to have it taken away I see commercials and movies in her future especially if she can speak some English.

It was as if Maduro had invaded at my place last night, I'd finished cooking for the lot of them (Christmas dinner) and suddenly a mass discussion broke out with oohs and ash and - anyway, I had another beer and left them get on with it. Can't think of a more pointless competition than one where some bimbo is asked about world peace and apparently her "beauty" depends on her command of English when being asked about displaced children or some such nonsense.
It's the same with the Navy here, they are picked depending on the tone of their skin and how white and perfect their teeth are, in the UK we look for the ugliest meanest looking apes to man the armed forces, here they're all pretty boys and glamour models. Still, if it's important to them.

The new Miss Universe is a Filipino-German Actress, TV personality and Chef, born in Germany, her father is German. That makes her a Eurasian which are known for their exotic beauty. She is 5'8" (1.73m) and unusually tall for a Filipina, that and her European sounding last name prompted me to look into her biography.

Actually my bet was on Miss Brazil, Marthina Brandt which is also of German descent which accounts for her naturally blond hair. I think she is more beautiful than Miss Colombia, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Don't think it will work. I'm sure the contestants are being checked for any unusual genitalia and silicon implants.

The MC was clueless----and once again demonstrates the incompetence of these people in the real world ---- (now 51 years and 3 generations later --yet still classless) His selection of Colombia as the winner--- Later-- His apology posting on the internet and then spelling "Columbia"
Where was Bob Barker---

I bet 7 in 10 people would spell at least 1 of those 2 wrong. I mean most people I know would probably swap the O with a U because there are Brands and Locations spelled that way in the US and as for the Philippines it's no easy spell for most.

Miss Universe was posted on the RH side of the card. The runner-up's on the LH side. Most people read from left to right, that's what threw him. The organizers of the contest should have put the winner on the LH side. MHO.
