The last three times we went to Colombia, all was great, until we tried leaving. Seems they keep changing the rules for taking a minor out. She's twelve, both our daughter, and also has a US passport. We are considering renouncing her Colombian passport so we don't have to deal with all the BS. Supposedly she can request it again at 18.
Anyone done this? Or any opinions?
All three of us live in the US. Wife would be only legal colombiana left.

Cant understand what problems you would have @buffalo if your daughter is travelling with both her parents. I know all Colombian citizens are supposed to enter and leave Colombia on their Colombian passport. Was the problem that she didn't have a valid Colombian passport?
My opinion about renouncing her Colombian citizen ship? I would say don't do it. Even though at this exact moment I can't think of a good reason to be a Colombian citizen.......you never know what is going to happen in the future.

I would tend to agree with barru;keep things the way they are;denouncing her Colombian citizenship may complicate the situation in the future.

There were other things previous, ultimately our own fault because we listened to 3 different people from Avianca. But what also happened is that the older adult passports in Colombia would have the minors listed to reference the minor's passport. We saw the name there but didn't realize the function so always travelled with no problem. Great idea in my opinion. (maybe put the parents' name in the minor's pp as well?)
My wife renewed her Colbian passport for our last trip and low and behold, Colombia decided to omit this great feature (and not tell anybody).
So then we were leaving Colombia and were asked for our daughter's birth cert to prove we were her parent's. That's when everything was explained to us. They change the system and don't tell you. Mind you we also ask everytime we arrive if we have all the correct docs and are always told yes yet twice it wasn't the case.

Forgot to mention that the agent said it is constantly happening to travellers.
So something was working, they changed it, don't inform, even when asked, then when they realize it is now a problem, don't fix it.
