Hey Amigos y Amigas, I am planning on visiting Colombia again and wouldn't mind meeting any of you for a beverage of your choice, (café o cerveza o limonada cereza) just to ask some questions about life there. I will be in Barranquilla for 4 days, arriving on the 10th, then to Medellin for 2 days, finally finishing in Bogota for 3 days. I am not a reporter, just curious gringo, who welcomes some English speaking company.
BTW, does anyone know what became of costeñogringo? I know he was living in Bq last year but intended on moving. I was curious how he made out with his gf and her daughter.

Welcome back, Wildstubby. Costeñogringo became caliorbust because of a change in scenery and that happened for the simple reason that my ex gf and also her mother, would you believe, kept up their verbal attacks at the new gf and kept telling her what a racist I am (you may remember that the new gf is mixed with Black and Indio) and I had a lot of explaining to do for a while. Can't watch Pastor Manning's videos anymore either when she is around. So we decided it was best to get out of Barranquilla and avoid any more confrontations and move South closer to her family. A lesson learned: It is much easier in Colombia to find a new girlfriend than breaking up with an existing one. All three of us are doing fine, she loves to work and the kid is doing really well in school. I'm also on very good terms with her family for a change which is important here.

Fine business, COB!!!! I was wondering what became of you. Of course you can read of my exploits. I'm diving in again, feet first. Good to hear that all is well with you!
(I guess I am in good company. Old gf was a mulatto. I didn't mind one bit. I'd be with her now if she wasn't so hungry for my wallet all the time!)

I will be staying near Parque 93. It seems to be close to everything and pretty much centrally located. I think I am supposed to be there the early afternoon on the 16th and leaving early morning of the 19th. Incidentally, my agent booked me first class on Avianca domestic flights. She said it was the same as economy. I don't know if that is good or bad!

Yup the brass has let this strike lag on.... They'll need to give out free VIP lounge access and make the entire cabin first class to get me onboard again.

Before you hit town - re-read caliorbust's post - easier to get a new GF than get rid of an old one - choose wisely upfront or hell to pay on back end.
If you have time while you are in town check out Mercado de Rio restaurants - newer small mall that is all restaurants - kind of like a food court on steroids but with lots of interesting choices - not cheap by Colombian standards but quite a variety of food. Located next to big Bancolombia building on ave. Las Vegas

One has to love the tact of some of these Colombianas. Case in point: One woman I have known for over 4 years. However, ever time I hint at coming close to her, she engages the cloaking device. This time is no exception. The other I helped return to Colombia as her visa was expiring. I told her I would visit her when I got to Bq. All is cool. She knew she wasn't the only pony in this rodeo. So when I told her I was going to the beach with another, she gave me this great dissertation about "not being someone's second-hand plate"! So I will enjoy the company of the one I am with. No pressure and enjoyable day at the beach. Tuesday I head to Medellin to meet with 2 ladies that I am incompatible with but enjoy a great friendship with both. One I am exceptionally close to as that of a brother/sister. It was worth the extra money to visit them albeit a short one.

It is much easier in Colombia to find a new girlfriend than breaking up with an existing one. Amen! Double Amen. During a break with my long term gf I went out a few times with an annoying girl. When I decided to get back with my gf this girl told me that she wanted to keep on seeing me. Like an idiot I agreed but I only went out with her a few times more before deciding it wasn’t worth it. She made sure my gf found out about her and then set up fake social media accounts to make me think that my gf was harassing her and also sent copies of WhatsApp messages between her and me to my gf. The sad part is that this is the second time something like this has happened to me. Hello! McFly!!

I have learned not to take any of these women for granted! I keep them as far away as possible. One kept pestering me for the name of the other here in Bq. I told her I don't play that game. She tried every way to extract it from me, (from a distance mind you), but she was unsuccessful. With all my ups and downs here, I don't think I would trade the experience.

The first time it happened with me was with that estrato3 girl. When I broke it off she got my gf’s number off the dog’s tag. She then started sending details of our relationship to my ex and even tried to get her to go out with her. She was bi so I’m sure she would have tried to bang her.
The second one stalked me on FB even though I never accepted her friend request. On a flight to Argentina I accidentally made a public post that I was traveling to Buenos Aires and she “liked” it but not before posting a pic of a stupid gift I gave her from my trip to Japan. She knew my gf would see it all and put 2 and 2 together.

Well, I made it to Medellin yesterday afternoon. Sad thing is I'm only here today and leave tomorrow morning. I was happy to see my amiga en Ciudad del Rio. On a side note, Avianca did cancel my direct flight here from Barranquilla. I had to reroute through Bogota.

Made it to Bogota safe and sound. I see the traffic here isn't any better than in Medellin! An interesting note while going to the airport at Rio Negro. It took 20 minutes to get out of the city and 15 minutes to go to the airport!

Hey! Sorry I couldn't meet up with any of 'youins'. I hope to do it next time though. Without a doubt I am going to spend more time in Medellin when I return. My amiga wants to take me dancing and enhance my cultural experience by visiting some of the museums the city has to offer. I'm ok with that.

You're 'amiga- gf' wants you all to herself, she most likely doesn't want seasoned expats coaching you. Then there's the pesky Colombianas moving in on her turf.

gallito said: Naaah, gallito. We are friends without benefits. But to let you know how small the world is. I said I would take her to dinner while I was in town. So while we are eating, she gets a video call from her novio. She introduces us and we start talking. He's from Miami mind you. Anyway I let him know that I was not moving in on his turf. Nice guy, talked back and forth about what we do and such. But to make a long story short, he used to live in the same town that I grew up in! I'm sure we will chat again because she will make a sojourn to Miami for the New Year.
