Closed at the request of indigenous communities who complained about the litter and the "bad energy" the tourists left behind. I think it's fair enough that the place should be cleaned of litter but surely that could be done without turning away the tourists who bring much needed funds to the area?
As for cleansing the place of "bad energy" it would appear that the lunatics have taken over the asylum. It sounds as if no notice was given to the tourist agencies who are still selling tickets to an attraction that is now closed - insurance claims will no doubt be being filed as we speak.
Good job Colombia doesn't need money from tourism...

Don't blame the Natives for closing the park;the place is getting trampled over, the partiers can stay in Taganga and cleanse their spirit. Aviator's pockets will feel a slight pinch then it'll be back again,on its merry way.

Yes, it was me posting there. Some info: 1) Operators (hotel, travel agency, etc.) had absolutely no info. They were left dealing with (rightly) angry tourists. We are talking people who planned their holiday, bought flights, booked hotels around a visit to the park. 2) Aviatur Ecohabs hotel is inside the park. Guess what? Rumour is that they had no reservations for November. Still checking about this... 3) Another rumours: original request by the indians was to close Pueblito only. That is the sacred site, not the beaches, not the rest of the park. 4) A multitude of families were left with no money for a month. No real plan for the park of course. 5) Aviatur concession were ending at the end of December. It has been prolonged for three years. The mamos tell they need three years to talk with the holy spirits of nature. Perfect timing no?
Call me cynic but my wild guess is that some money went into mamos pockets, they showed their people how powerful they are, and mr Bessudo got what he wanted with the bless of the corrupt politicians of the coast. I would love to see if Aviatur is doing any new construction inside the park and wanted no witnesses.

Avitur seemingly has monopolized the park...perhaps a helipad would fit into his scheme!

Oh yes... I forgot about that... Aviatur is trying to setup an helicopter service to Ciudad Perdida. They need indians permission... imagine that...

It's all good until the "nativa" moves next door and figures they own our land.
