How did Colombia do this year? ◦Andrés Carne de Res, the beloved party spot in Chía, was back on the list this year at 42. It was on the list in 2013 but had dropped off in 2014.
◦Leo went up 16 places in relation to 2014: from 49 to 33.
◦El Cielo went from 46 in 2014 to 30 in 2015.
◦Harry Sasson is at number 24 (which is also a ride up the list from last year, when his glittering restaurant came in at No. 43).
◦Criterión, Bogota’s darling at the capable hands of the famous (at least in Colombia) Rausch brothers, Jorge and Mark, also ascended the list. In 2014 they came in 39. This year they were at number 18 on the list. That won them the award as the restaurant that most ascended the list, up an amazing 21 spots. And, of course, they are still first on the list for Colombia, a position that is hard to shake.

Andres Carne de Res in Chia is hugely popular. I have never been inside but have driven past many times and they have people with stop and go signs on the road to let the hordes of people safely cross the road. It takes 10 minutes just to drive past the restaurant......I guess the food must be good.

I've been Andres there and the Bogota one a couple of times, and while the food is decent, I think it's popularity has to do more with the theme and atmosphere.

Agreed, it's a place for a party, someones birthday or whatever, the food is just to accompany the beer. It's a bit like the food served in Octoberfest (the one in Germany) just something to wash down the alcohol, doubt anyone would remember the food they ate there, let alone make a specific trip. btw, there's a decent Indian restaurant in Bogota called The Taj Mahal, the chef is Indian, it's pricey, he imports the herbs and spices and it's authentic. He's resisted the urge to change the food to suit Colombian tastes.
