La Vega, Colombia is another one of those small towns in a warm place of Colombia. A plaque on the mayor's office states it began on June 3, 1605. Well actually that is just when the Spanish encountered the place. Walking around the town is a delight. Discovering what type of shops are often hidden beyond their fracade brings adventure. I enjoyed the food most of all. While I did not stop and ask them, it did look like there was more than one gringo walking around like he lived there. Either way it is a good place to check out. And this is another one of those places where Michael and Graciela wrote about and took photos. You can check out their blog post Warm and Colorful La Vega – Day Trip from Bogotá.

If you have a couple of days to spare or a long weekend, a good trip is Bogota to La Vega, maybe stay the night and then continue on to Villeta. Stay the night there and then head back to Bogota via Facatativa and Mosquera. This is a big loop, so no back tracking and the roads are all good. www.google.com.co/maps/@4.9477203,-74.227558,11z?hl=en
