I use a Canon 7Dll with a Canon 400 5.6 lens and a Canon 600EX-Rt flash with a "Better Beamer" (gives the flash a little more reach). I pretty much have to use flash all the time except in full bright sun. An interesting facet of the Multicolored Tanager is that it's light blue breast feathers are iridescent and reflect flash blowing out the feather detail. The only good pictures of that bird have to be taken with out flash. It's the only bird I've run across that reacts that way to flash. Weird.

Rare bird paradise protected in war-torn Colombian mountain range (photos) 22 July 2014 / Jeremy Hance A coalition of conservation groups have established a new protected area in one of Latin America’s most neglected ecosystems: the Colombian-side of the Serranía de Perijá mountain range. Following decades of bloody conflict and rampant deforestation, experts say only five percent of rainforest is left on the Colombian side of this embattled mountain range. news.mongabay.com/2014/07/rare-bird-paradise-protected-in-war-torn-colombian-mountain-range-photos/

I read the above but didn't see it posted anywhere but in Antioquia we have a very rare bird that according to the internet they are only found in Antioquia, Colombia. The "orange billed humming bird", I feed them every day at my Finca. The feathers are multi colored much like the other humming birds but the Bills are bright orange.

I only get Ruby-throated hummies here. Although, I did see what I thought was a Rufous stop by once.
