They almost look like paw-paws hanging on that tree! I had no idea what a Pawpaw tree was until I Wikipedia'd it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asimina_triloba Well be told; is a species of Asimina (the pawpaw genus) in the same plant family (the Annonaceae) as the custard-apple, cherimoya, sweetsop, ylang-ylang and soursop.

Keeping it in the Annona theme;annona, cherimoya & guanabana are my favourite tropical fruits...apparently they are anticariogenic and touted as a cure for cancer.

I'll agree, Cherimoya is the best fruit in Colombia but I have to buy it, much to warm where I live to grow it myself.

They almost look like paw-paws hanging on that tree! In Australia it is also called paw-paw. You have to be very careful you don't ask for paw-paw in Colombia because to them it sounds like poo-poo jajajajajaja

I didn't have a camera with me when I visited Salento, but 200 foot tall wax palms on the sides of mountains in the clouds is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen.

Have you travelled to the end of the road past Salento to the fish farm. Then you can take a foot trail all the way to the Laguna Atun. The path up the Rio Quindio is beautiful and I saw birds there that I have never seen in any other part of Colombia.

Then drove to a couple of places, got out and enjoyed the view. Back to Salento for dinner. Then home to Pereira.
I'm going to try to go back in January. But I doubt I'll do much uphill walking at that altitude.

BillF,those pics would look bigger if you fed them into Photobucket or one of those other sites.

BillF,those pics would look bigger if you fed them into Photobucket or one of those other sites. Something strange about posting on this website. The pics are most all 8 X 12's and O.K. on my screen etc. All are taken with a D series Nikon and stored on my H.D. at 1024 X 968 pixels. My EXIF shows them the same but they are posted directly from my PC. This is the only site that reduces them when I post them?

It seems like any posted off a computer are small. If you use tinypic.com/ you can pick the size. If you click on the pictures it makes them full size.

Let me see how I can do with this. About 3 weeks ago I was in Bogota and (finally) had an opportunity to visit 'La Quinta del Simon Bolívar' next to Montseratté. Attachments:
